The season is finally here! :drink:
My motor broke last Aug, so I have been off the water for a while. After re-powering, today was my first ride. Here's some pics of my winter projects ..... Old and new .... |

I had to raise my hatch a few inches.
I used 2x2 angle on the sides. I inverted the upper hinge and drilled a whole (not perfect) and bolted them down. |

I'm going to have to change my sunpad and seat back a little bit. They need to be redone anyway.

GPS SPEEDO :drink:
I have the antenna temp rigged to make sure it was working. For some reason at my house it did not want to lock on to the signal but at the marina it locked right on. |

I'm still looking for a creative idea for a pass. side foot rest. Any ideas?
I was planning on doing the "shakedown" cruise by myself or with a buddy. My daughter insisted on going. She LOVES the Superboat! |

one more pic plus my pile of spare parts...

Re: The season is here!
On my 24 what I did was got one of those fold down stainless steps and thru-bolted it into the cabin initially to have a step up to access the bow but my wife used it as a foot rest. I thought of putting on a second one but I tended to leave the cabin doors open and kept them from swinging around with a s/s hook and eyelet. I usually kept the cooler in that area as well for additional foot rest. if it wasnt down below.

Re: The season is here!
Cool McGiver job on the hatch cover!
|
Re: The season is here!
Whats the black square thing to the left of the vent? And why the round access cover on the hatch?
|
Re: The season is here!
The black square is a trim switch. It's real handy to have when getting the boat ready to travel, etc. Instead of undoing the canvas and climbing up to use the switch on the throttle.
The round access cover is to disconnect the hatch actuator. Normally my sunpad is covering it and you don't see it. |
Re: The season is here!
Thanks. I also like the 300x on my old 24 with the trim switch on the engine, Something to think about on the Y2K
Hay KRAK! How do yopu open your hatch if the battery is dead, I know you have the electrric hatch lift? |
Re: The season is here!
Dave, would that drive shower work on an XR drive/ THe XR has a finned top cap
|
Re: The season is here!
Boat looks really nice Dave. All your winter slaving is finally paying off. Way to go! :drink:

Re: The season is here!
Glad To See Your Progressis Coming Along !!!! I Used The Same Blue On My Boat..........

Re: The season is here!
Gary H -
JC did it right on the hatch, he installed an access panel in the underseat storage/ice chest area, and installed a very nice T-pin quick release at the base of the hatch lift; first class. Dave M - I like that helm! What system did you install? |

Thanks Keith

Re: The season is here!
Hey Dave,
Nice job raising your hatch. I am going to visit JC in a few weeks. I would like a new flat hatch without the sun pad. What do you think? How did she run? Are you going easy on her for the first few hours? I am not sure if I will be capable of holding back when mine hits the water... I like your new vent covers! Eddie Marine? I ordered something similar with handles... |
Re: The season is here!
Hey Patrick,
The flat hatch sounds good. I don't hang out on my sunpad too often. She ran good, I am following Merc's break-in so I kept it under 4K rpms. I had my old prop on there so I don't have any comparison numbers yet. My friend has a 28 B1 that he is going to let me try. The GPS Speedo is SWEET! It reads right on with my hand-held GPS. I was going to get the handles for the vents too. I was a little worried about how much stress would be on the deck with one of my fat-ass buddies tugging on it. |
Re: The season is here!
Hey Dave M. and Superbash,
I am vary jealous of you fellows out on the water already. I still have not pulled the winter cover off my boat yet. We may be able to pull my 7.4 from the boat this coming Friday but we'll see how the weather is. Bash, your Wednesday night thing is looking good for this week. Maybe 60°F by then. Winter is dead, but my boating is still about 6 weeks off... :( Later, |
Re: The season is here!
I think it's going to be close to 70 here on Weds. I guess I will be leaving work EARLY! :D
I'm going to try out a 28 Bravo 1. I haven't pushed her much over 4K RPMs yet. With my 26 Bravo at 4K the throttle looks like it is only about 1/2 way up. |
Re: The season is here!
Hi Dave,
Are you running a solid or plastic hub? I gotta get off this PC and work on my engine... OUT |
Re: The season is here!
come down to lexington park and pick me up after work! My boat still on drydock
|
Re: The season is here!
I live in Lex. Park too. Still haven't taken the winter cover off the boat. A month of 45 degrees and rain is no help in the de-winterization process. Hoping for an early may splash if we can get some decent weather and my boss would allow me to stay in the country for a few days.

Re: The season is here!
Hey Dave,
How did the 28p work for you? Is she broken in yet? Are you coming north in June? Later :drink: |
Re: The season is here!
Dave, my 26P Bravo 1 has plastic hub, for what it's worth....does it matter?

I'm still waiting to try my friends 28P until I get over the 10 hour mark and I can start opening it up. The steering system is working good too. It feels very precise and I can turn the wheel with my pinky. I'm still unsure if I will make Superfest or not. Do you have a full boat? Maybe I can be a BOAT ***** for the day? Dave |
Re: The season is here!
Come on up Dave.
If you don't bring your boat we'll make room for you. Kieth is dragging his boat 2000 miles, we need Dave M. our original OSO man! :drink: |
