i got my 33 in 1988, mid hudson area. it is still like new and i will never sell it. nothing with the same power has ever passed this boat and a few with more power found that they werent as fast as they claimed to be. im tinking of repowering it ith a pair of 315 yanmar diesels. i figure it would cruise at 45 to 50 and burn half the fuel. if i cruise the 370 wide open on the primarys, this thing will go forever on 100 gal,,but touch the secondarys and watch out. for long cruises to B.I., i tie the secondarys closed . ther is a triple outboard 31 on the hudson, but i havent seen him for a long time. lets face it,,richy hasnt built too many of these gems. too bad, fountain etc have found a lot of sucker to buy their pretenders,,,but that sounds like fighting words. its more fun to almost run with one of them and then show them the iron manifold 370s, than it is to pass them hehe. an honest 75 mph at 5100. not bad. it lost a mph or two when i repitchd the props to 1 1/2" more. they are the original cleavers. but i cut the rpm by 350 to400 rpm. i use synthetic in the trans and 15-50 amsoil synthetic in the engines which i change every year. the trs's get 140 amsoil gear lube with a ounce or two of z-moly powder. the only thing else it gets is new platinum plugs every 4 or 5 years and i spray the advance in the distributers once a year. im gona be 64 in may and i hope it keeps on running sweet for another 19 years. i may replace the steering with a hydralic unit and install an auto pilot. talk about lazy? now you guys know about another old Suthen. my brother,,who i dont miss at all, bought. a 21 from richie some 37 years ago. so, suthpens go back a few years in my family.
