30ct, your risers are probably a little shorter than mine so if you go strait out you might want to consider some inner flappers or something similar. Mine doesn't suck water up but if a cruiser or something big wakes the boat while its anchored it could become a problem. I just bought a set of Eddie Marine manifolds and risers and had them put the inner flappers in the end of the pipes. They turned out really good considering that I hate exposed flappers and it gives me some peace of mind.

Fobes on this board had a 20 with BBC and TRS = lots of weight. PM him and see what setup he had and how well it worked. Merc manuals have the requirements for stock engine and manifolds.

stultz makes a good point...my old boat had a similar set up for the same reasons...i had a bungee over the flaps while moored, just in case...
i had imco risers, which were awesome, but i feared the random wake up the pipe....
here's my set up...and i still use the bungee while moored....

Yeah those look alot like what I am doing but the risers are about two inches higher than mine.

I had read on here you needed at least a 14 drop from riser to exit in another forum.
I didn't see how that could be true since we ran so much less with no issues. I wantedto be safe and aska round though.

I feel alot safer doing in the sraighter exhaust having seen so many running it with good results.

My boat will never really stay in the water its trailers all the time so the rouge wake isn't as much of a concern but I will get the internal flappers anyway.

It was a little too small for me to read but thats OK I already sliced and diced them to fit properly.

I am in the welding phase right now.

These were easier than making a car header thats for sure.
I guess I thought there'd be some magic inside there or something.
Very simple design.

The stainless marine risers are even easier to make now that I have checked out a set up close.
