PS i researched the boats history .Fred at Trick sold the boat to Parnell (complete with a pair of 1100 blower engines ) for approx 115 grand.Parnell ran the boat then took the engines ect out (to use on a Saber)and sold the boat to the current owner for approx 45 grand. The current owner put a new floor in the cockpit and redid the guages ect and he now wants 70-90 grand for what amounts to a hukk with 2 number6 drives (who knows in what condition)To make the Sutphen seaworthy using a majority of USED PARTS you will be close to a total expenditure of 150 grand ,Way too much (for me at least )for a 13 year old boat

Recent high bid on Ebay (no reserve met )is over 70 .One of twop things is happening either the owner himself is bidding on his own boat (to try to drive up the price since there is a reserve )or some poor *astard is actually trying to buy the thing for 70gs not knowing what it cost to complete a staggered number 6 drive boat (we aint talkin side by side Bravos )here.

If anyone has any lines on 1995 40' boats with "reportedly" fresh 1st gen sixes with a fairly new trailer and a nice interior pls let me know. You don't normally find those configs for 40k. Bravos perhaps. Problem with this package is that it is an expensive package and difficult to justify in a Sutphen due to re-sale ability. New boats with these drive lines sell at 1/2 M. Ain't "toys R Us". Ars for every seat

Bob, the problem is to buy the boat as is and complete it using alot of used parts (mainly engines )your at a bottom line total of 150 grand plus.Much newer boats with 6s can be had for that. For example SC Performance just sold a 2000 42 Cig Tiger 1000 Merscs in exc condition for around 150 gs.Shogrun Fountain has a 2000 42 Outerlimits 6 drive for around 175 with Merc 1000s.There is a bad 97 LS Scarab available twin 1000s with 6s for around 100 grand.

Check out the LS Scarab in the Offshore only classified. The boat is a 97, shows almost new (trailer included )has staggered Merc 1000 SC and can be had for around 100,000.Iam told it runs an easy 105 mph.

I agree. If you have to buy the parts and labor to put a deal like that back together...forget it. If you happen to have the parts and can do the labor then maybe worth lookin at? Definetly not a situation to buy and put together and expect to sell in a couple years and breakeven. To go buying the parts I am with you, might make it a challenge. When the package was together, it couldn't bring over $80 or so, 5 years ago, when the re-sale market was much better.

If you had the parts already this boat definately would be a Sutphen for the ages(from what i understand there are not to many staggered 6 drive Sutphens around-this is what sparked my initial interest ).I spoke with Parnell who was the last owner to actually run the boat and he was quite impressed with its overall performance.Who knows maybe if it doesnot sell on e-bay the owner may lower the price.
