Biggus, know anything about the boat?

I looked at it last winter. I really don't have much more info, it's all there and looks in decent shape for an old race boat. I thought the asking price was for the boat including motors and running condition. When i visited, they were going strong on the project, painting and refurbishing all the mechanicals and the bolster had been re-done.

The owner is a real nice guy, give him a call.

sorry jammin, didnt mean to get your thread off track.

My appologies.

Those look like air to water intercoolers. Are they a closed loop system or do they use fresh water to cool them?

Jammin' 11-13-2008 04:22 PM

They use raw water. The discharge are the two small ports that can be seen in the center of the transom just below the swim platform. Looks like an outboard pissing.

very cool, do they use sacraficial zincs so they dont corrode?
Wont salt water have a tendancy to ruin the alluminum intercooler cores?

I don't know the answer to that. The core looks like aluminum. I'll be running in fresh water. I wonder how long these things last in saltwater before they develop leaks and start injecting water into the engine. I don't see in any of the procharger literature what the core is actually made of. Stainless steel would make the most sense to me. The owner of my shop said he has seen them develop leaks before.

We are going to take the boat out Wednesday for test and tune. The forecast is for low to mid-40's. Brrrrrrrr!
