I do a lot fo automotove turbocharging and the cores for those are all alluminum. They will have the same issues as a drive on the boat I would think with salt water running through them. Stainless would be an awful intercooler material since it transfers heat really badly. Thats why we make turbo headers from it. The stainless locks in the heat energy like header wrap would.

I would find a way to put zinc anodes in the box (epoxied in or something)I think It might be a help in keeping them from having issues.
Certainly cant hurt anything as long as it doesnt block the flow of it.
Just my $.02

Beautiful day for a boat ride. Sunny and 40. We took the Sutphen out for a shake down. So far so good. No leaks. The only problem was hitting a wake with the hatch lifted and ripping it off the actuator.

The temperature peaked at 40 degrees yesterday and we were running without thermostats. We never took it over 3000 rpm. It was a little cold blooded to say the least. I have 32" Bravo 1 props on it. It moves along at a pretty good clip idling. We took it out just to make sure everything was working and nothing was leaking. It's getting winterized now and we'll resume in the spring. I was bound and determined to get it in the water one time before winter.

Great job. You made her look new but you still kept the old school look. Nice.
