It would be easier to have a platform on either side of the drive or one on each side. The main concern would be the height to clear the drive when fully up.. It can be done but the platform may be high. We would have to take a look into it more to see how it would look. However, anything is possible.

i gotta make it to norwalk this year!

ron, would you make the run to port wash in this 21?

Full Throttle 525 08-07-2008 01:01 PM

Rob.. It would be easier for me to trailer it to port washington and put it in there.

That boat is sweet! Very nice job. I had a 1978 20' a few years ago and the new version appears to be a lot more boat. I like the additional freeboard above the rubrail. Best of luck

LOL, i'm not asking to bring it here.
I'm asking would you run this 21 that far? in that water?
Would you see that as fun, or abusive?

Rob:

I probably would put it in in Greenwich or Stamford and then run it. Of course it depends on what the water is like. That would predicate whether it would be fun or abusive or not. For the most part it is really not a big big water boat. Although I used to run my old 20ft SeaRay from Milford to PJ and back and the Sutphen is a much much better boat.

As Pepe would say...do you have cajones??? LOL

I cant speak for the new 21 but my old 20 was the kind of boat I would take out in the sound on calm days with the boys to beat up our kidneys and have some fun wave jumping, but I wasn't gonna chance taking my 2 year old out there.

It was also fine if it ran OK, but I wouldn't want to have had engine trouble and have the weather change or something like that.
I know its not a clear cut answer but hopefully it will give some Idea of how the boat was in the sound.

The added 2.5 inches of deck hieght, I am sure would go a long way to feeling safer in the boat. The 20 sat very low in the water.
You could put your hand in the water pretty easy over the side of the windshield.
My brother hated the boat.LOL
It was so low it freaked him out after being in a 30 for so long.

Oh I forgot to mention that it handled like a porshe on the river. Jumped wakes like a jetski and was just a blast to rip up the river in.
The 26 and the 30 are boring on the river IMHO!

If you are looking for a river/ lake and calm sound boat the 20 is a blast.

Ron, that is what i figured. ;)
