|
hey guys, i went out last week for a little test run, ive got the 26 sutphen twin 406's and arneson asd6's boy was i moving 84 was the top. it was great. little chin walking problem. im thinking about these things called speed rails, ever hear of them
|
Scarab412
You need a name change. I spoke to the factory a year or so ago about my 26 and they had my call Don Carter Sr. at Offshore Performance(I think) in Ft.Myers. He has lots of experience with these boats and knows their handling characteristics. The number is 941 489-0884. Keep us posted. |
ok thanks, ill give him a call. i have another name its sutphen26, i have had the scarab412 for a while though. thanks again
|
I had a 26 with a pair of 94' 2.5 EFI Offshore clamp ons. Had them on a 22" bracket with about 20" center lines. Boat ran around 87 and was a blast! Once up over 75 or so they like to start walking when you get a lot of lift going on and the boat gets up. I basically ran on the last 7-10" of the keel on smooth water. Great boat.
|
well i have finally made a decision, i just got married and im looking into buying a new house, so the boat isnt a nescessity right now, so its time to sell. i might buy and activator next year who knows, but if anyone is interested heres the info:
1987 26' sutphen rumrunner: cockpit was recently restored, cabin in great shape, twin hp 406's built by bluelightning marine, arneson asd6 surface drives, k plane tabs, indicators, full hydraulic system, cb radio, labfinished props. boats in great condition, very realiable, runs low 80's. asking 26,000$. more info email me at [email protected] |
I think we've got a tie! Mine's a 1972 Sutphen Gran Sport and I'm only the second owner (18 years).
|
Hey fobes!!! Where ya been? I love seeing all these new names and boats...that rocks. Finally, some people with taste!(ha ha ha ) I used to think my 83 was old, but a 72 obviously takes the cake. What are those 406s making for punch Anthony? Our mutual friend sutphen30 knows of a 26 that does 93-97mph...I have heard that our boats like to be nosey. Mayhap that might be keeping you down??? Sutphen30s boat needed spacers in his TRS drives to make 87mph, the drives actually sit abit high!!! Anyway, she sounds like a beast...good luck selling her.

Re: Old Sutphens
Dear all, my name is Simone,
a new member and can't post new topics because I have no creditcard (I live on Curacao, an island in the Caribbean). I truly hope I can find someone who knows enough about Sutphen powerboats. I'm thinking about buying a Sutphen Powerboad, build '92, 39 feet, two inside engines (800 hp each). The reason why I want to buy this boat is because I want to offer powerboat chartertours to tourists visiting the island. The sea of Curacao (offshore) is known to be extremely rough at times. Can anyone tell me if this boat I've got my eye on is the right boat for these conditions? Many thanks in advance guys, any help I can get is more then welcome! Kind regards, Simone Leeflang |
Re: Old Sutphens
I'm close with a 1976 20' super pacer with berkley jet drive
Still working on ressurecting it as its been sitting for 15 years. Its got a 460 and pulled a max speed of 92mph with the jet drive in the late 80s. |

Re: Old Sutphens
Long story, the 92 max speed was with the same motor it has now but with minor changes. The 92mph blew after a month so it was rebuilt and detuned for reliablility, the current motor dynoed at 730hp but was only ran 2 hours(still only has 2 housr on it.) Before it was put away it ran close to 80 or so. Currently it has the 80mph motor with 2 hours on it. I've been working on getting it running again but with lack of a decent garage it looks like it wont be running right until spring.
It has a gale banks twin turbo bb460. I can get some pics here in a few as I've been wrenching for the past couple hours. |
