Peter's Boat Is Almost Done. We Are Running Out Of Time. We Have To Be On The Road By July 13. We Hope To Make Both Races In Mich. We Should Be Competitive With The Engine We Have. In The P-6 Class The Boat Must Accelerate From 40 To 70 In About 4.5 Sec. We Should Have The Engine To Do It. Wazzup ,in P-6 Has A Supercat Lite, dry Sump Motor / 750 Hp. Should Be Interesting. We Have To Fire The Engine And Do The Set-up Work.
Peter Is Assembling An Imco 1.35 Lower Unit For My 31. With This Lower Unit With A Labed 24 At 6000 Rpm The Boat Ran 92 Mph. Won't Be Able To Play With My Boat Until After The Race.

damn air time that sucks. That red sutphen is one hell of a boat.
I am sure your new one will get the job done for you but if it were me there would be no question between the two.
what was the DIFFERENCE in numbers on the two boats?
I dont know crap about sabers so I am partial to sutphens. plus the extra size would be nice

Bumping this great thread! How about a pair of these? http://www.crateenginedepot.com/ZZ38...72-P764C2.aspx
They seem pretty reasonably priced. Any chance you'd get to 80 with 'em? It looks like closed cooling kits aren't all that expensive, which would alleviate the aluminum head issue. Would you pick up any speed with a Bravo conversion? Of course, Arnesons or Kaamas would be pretty awesome, but they cost real money...

I still say a pair of nice simple SBC's with good cranks rods and pistons with DFI and some hairdryers is the way to go!!
when your not in boost its a very economical low compression pump gas freindly engine.
When your on it and in boost your making CRAZY HP and torque still on pump gas with a conervative safe tune.
What could be better?
Turbos have some a long way in the last 10 years and the right DFI and Tune can make all the difference.
Theres also some crazy stuff being done with Blow thru carbs.
DRAW THRU is dead.

It sure would be nice to have the extra space in the engine compartment. Obviously, a Bravo conversion and a pair of small-blocks would allow you to move the rear seat back if you were so inclined, which would be nice in a boat with a tiny cockpit like the OP. I agree about the turbos. Maybe some day...
