Jeff P...sutphen30...from CT. He was interested, but mere hours too late... C |
Yeah you scooped me on that one.
C gave me the heads up and It was the one day I didnt check my email. DOH! That was a nice price on that boat. Its Ok though I got my rum runner not to long after and I am very happy with the boat. It would be Nice to go a little bigger again but at the same Time I like the flexability of the outboard platform. If I went bigger I think I might go Outboards again. Although I like the Big blocks for the sound and feel of them the OB's are alot easier to get to and maintain. No winterizing, No oilchanges, I can have them off the boat in minutes instead of hours. The only draw back I have found so far is the cost of repair for mechanics but the more I learn about them the less fear I have of working on them myself. They really arent that different from an ATV engine or jetski. Ahh If I could only hit the lottery.LOL or make up my mind to have one toy |
I have pulled so many small blocks out of my Sutphens it is sad....the last one took 12 minutes. Trust me I'm not bragging, it's sad. I had a $hitty engine builder and didn't know any better on the first one.

I know what you mean My race car is that way I can strip the entire car in a matter of hours and put it all back together in one day.
The bog blocks in our old thirty were TIGHT though. You had to be a magician to get to anything without breaking down some other sub assembly. Much easier with the OB's and I would imagine the Small blocks would be pretty easy too. My 20 was so simple it was rediculous Small block with tons of room. |
if that boat was a single big block, i would have bought it last year!!
id love to find a single big block. i found one local all original fresh water boat, but the guy wanted huge money for it and it needed everything. i wanted to scoop it gut it throw a nice 525 500 hp merc in there with a warrenty and go from there, but he wanted like $28k for the boat. he's dreaming. needless to say i told him he was dreaming, he looked around and now the boat isnt for sale. lol |
I can tell you what it would run with a single bblown BBC in it. It would haul azz.
You should just sell it to me cheap, so that it can stay as natural and healthy as it is now. It would look good parked next to the Magnum when I finish it. 2 stalls, 2 lists, 2 bad azz classic boats hanging. |

If it was all original and fresh water how bad could it have been? Plus youd be a sutphen owner! i would have been buying it to put a 525 and bravo in it, then another 5k on interior upgrades and gauges and stereo, etc etc etc. it would have been a $60,000 26' rum runner when i was done. the hull was mint which was nice, but i was looking to spend $10-12 on it then dump more in it. at the 28k i said no way. i told him let me know when he is willing to sell it for 15. or without motor, trailer and out drive for $10 |
