Good to hear from other Sutphen owners out there! I think I am running the only Sutphen out on Lake St. Clair in Michigan. I have an '87 30 foot with 502's, Kaama surface drives. I bought the boat in '97, repowered it. The boat came from the Boston area, used to be known as "Shear Terror". If anyone has ever heard of it, would like to hear about it.

Hey sutphenjeff: I live in the Boston area and have seen a couple of 30's for sale in the past. How long ago did you buy it and from what city? I run a 20' Sutphen out in Boston Harbor. The 30 is a great boat, bet it's fast as hell. I remember reading an article that said a 30' Sutphen had raced and beaten a 30' cat with the same power, now your talkin'. There is a older 30' Sutphen raceboat a couple of streets over from me that will hopefully get put back together someday, it's orange with #2 or #3 speedmasters and is called the "Execution Express". Would like to hear more about your rig and if you could post some pics it would be great, maybe I have seen it in my travels. My company has a branch office in Livonia and if I get out there I would love to check it out. Stay in touch...Matt

Hi Matt, I bought the boat in '97 from a used boat dealer here in St. Clair, Michigan. The boat had Boston Harbor Coast Guard inspection stickers on it. I met the Sutphens down in Florida at the Worlds who remembered the boat. They said the original owner was from the Mass. area. Boat runs in the low 80's. If you are ever coming out this way, let me know and I'll take you out for a rip!

Jeff: sounds like a plan. I have talked to Christine in Cape Coral and Rich Jr in N.J. and they seem to be great people, very helpful. Looking forward to putting the boat in soon as I'm sure you are! If you get a chance to post any pictures, I'd love to see them, stay in touch...Matt
