I sent wade some more pics one of the actual damage that took it out in the end.
You'll really cry!

It will show the strength of the sutphen hull though.

Imagine this boat was slamming into these jagged and super sharp rocks from about 10 Pm until 9 Am the next day and the boat was still floating to some extent.

Most other MFG's boats would have been tooth pics by morning under the beating this boat took with 5 to 6 ft waves pounding it against those rocks.
We were in the waves up to our necks with two life jackets a piece on trying to pull that boat free almost all night. 4 of us on a 200 Ft long repelling rope pulled it free of the flat rock.
My brother and I climbed in and started the engines and tryed to back it off the rocks with the bow almost straight up in the air with the tie bar broken and one drive flapping in the breeze
The engines were almost under water at the time.

It was so rough I couldnt get out there on my Gp1200 jetski or even the zodiac. It was crazy!!!

had it movin toward safty of the beach when a nasty wave hit her and slammmed her into the position you see in the last pic. It got hooked on a rock and would not move any further. another 30 Ft and it would have been on the sand.

There were other boats that broke free but most landed on the sand and were repairable.

The pics dont do the story justice. There wass a young kid maybe 16 that helped us all night on the beach trying to pull it to safety. what a good kid We have no Idea who he was but he stayed out there all night with us.

It was a hell of an experience.

Salvors and coast gaurd wouldnt even go out in the storm to help us and we called everybody believe me.LOL

Sorry for the delay....

Id like to add that the superior build strength of these boats is apparent here.

This boat in no way broke apart or had holes punched into it. It took many many hrs of pounding from huge waves, grinding on very sharp rocks to finally grind its way though.

The hull if you look is quite intact for a hull that was comming 3 or 4 feet up and then slamming down on the rocks all night long slowly ginding its way in.

I own another sutphen.
Probably always will.

This boat was rock solid IMO!

Thanks Wade for posting for me.

Damn rocks, who put them there anyway? Just imagine what the other manufacturer boats would look like if this happened to them.

I think all MFG's should test there boats this way>LOL

30ctsutphen 03-02-2009 06:45 PM

I have a stuphen Rum runner 26 with twin outboard mercs.

Its sweet boat I really like it but you know how hard it is to come after something that had so much history.

Hey guys..
Where is it now?
I heard it was a 33 from a Dominator mold, custom blocked, also that it was quite heavy, a wave demolisher from CT at one time.
