what setback is that bracket?
My RR has a 35" setback bracket!!! probably a foot too long haha. i also have a skyscraper motor tho.
trying to figure our the best idea setback for offshore conditions with twins.

I rigged it about 9 years ago and can't remember exactly. May be either 24" or 28". I'll measure and let you know. When I had the V8s on there it was 32", needed all that to tilt engines.

wow maybe I am remember in the set back on mine wrong?

seems like It had to be more inline with whats on that little single sutphen you have.

i have 35" setback and i was talking to Richie and he was saying with all that setback, the boat didnt know if it was a rough water boat or not.
He was also telling me about rigging boats with those v8s, and with the stock steering, they looked like bumper motors bouncing around into each other because of all the play in the steering.

JamesGang, that boat of yours is bad ass! I've always liked v-hulls with outboards for some reason.

Ill have to measure mine on the 31 too I have no Idea what it is, but I can tell you that my 26 did like to fly! It was very different from a 30 OP we had with big blocks, it never had that plow thru thing going for it.

It sat very light in the water and my 31 has that too to some degree. you have to use the tabs to artifficially make that happen , but you also dont wanna stuff the nose if it lands tail first so its a balancing act.

At least thats what I find, Jimmy may have more input I still am learning my boat everyday.

Jimmy has finessed his boat for so many years he really has it down.

I can say that our BBC ocean pacer, was a VERY forgiving boat that you really didnt have to be that good of a driver to run in rough water where my 31 and all my OB boats took some more thought and made me learn more

30ctsutphen 10-09-2010 10:07 AM

on my 26 it seemed like the fulcrum point of the boat was way back. Like if you were to put an imaginary rod through the boat from side to side and give it a point where it would balance in the water when porpicing the BBC boat would be way closer to center where the OB boat was almost at the transom. You would think the BBC boat would be more tail heavy of a feel but it wasnt that way.

My 31 sits so high in the water at its nose that almost a 1/3 of the boat isnt even touching the water when tied up in the cove. six I should send you some in the water pics of my 31 email me at [email protected]

sixmassive 10-09-2010 04:40 PM

so would it be better for less setback? trying to keep the weight forward and bring the Center of gravity more forward?

22" set back with the 20" centers seemed to work pretty well in the rougher stuff. Here are some poor quality pics in a relatively calm river chop.
