Default Rub rail replacement

What would be involved in replacing the rub rail on an old Ocean Pacer? Is the deck bolted through the rub rail? The rail on the boat currently is the old style aluminum rail with the rubber insert.

Nobody has done this? Do the deck bolts go through the rub rail?

I did this on my '72 Gran Sport '18. It was a total PITA. Pull out the rubber insert and you'll likely see bolts that hold hull and deck together. Good luck. D

Hmm, so maybe a better option would be to clean/straighten/polish the metal rail on there and replace the rubber center. Thanks, Dave!
