Default Using a Capilano Helm

Does anyone have any extra reinforcements behind the dash to hold the weight of that heavy ass helm? how much space does it take up?

Thanks!

I did that retro on a 26, back in the 90's. As I recall we did use some marine plywood I believe on the inside to help support the beast. Sorry but I can't help with actual dimensions. Think we used either #8 or 10 lines? Once completed makes a nice tight system. Good luck!

Just a heads up for People installing a Capilano on a Rum Runner: it barely fits. Bolted up, the hose fittings are wedged against the fwd bulkhead. you need a good bit of elbow grease to get it up in there. I'll add some pics today

i took out the speedo and took a pic looking down through the hole. as you can see it is a very tight fit. But it does fit. FYI
