id buy the boat for 10k with drives, find a set of take out 496 ho for 5k-7k each plop them in. so call that 20k. then another 10 into it for interior, repairs ect then a few buck into trailer. id have a nice boat for a total of around 40k. no rocket ship but prob 70 mph ish and reliable.
any more then that is to much. lol

Spoke to ernie what a nice guy and got the complete breakdown on this boat what a nightmare its definitely a project that needs to be gone through and that's only if the hull is ok which has plenty of old water sitting up In it. The boat realistically is worth 25grand 30 generously and that's if the hull is good but this guy who owns it is definitely not selling it for that kind of money not to mention whoever buys it will have the same problem if they ever have to sell it sometime down the road cause it has too much history already

So after finding the full history of the boat and speaking to people that know the full history of the boat and MAKING A DEAL with the owner against my better judgement at our agreed price on Friday I was going to put a deposit on the boat to hold it until it was fully fixed and operable and water ready because when i went to see it before IT WAS NOT! So don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I was going to bring full payment this week upon a passing leakdown and compression test of the motors and a full survey of the hull and water test of the boat.because there is just way too much speculation and low and behold the owner is now backing out of the deal and wanted to know my source of where I received my information on the boat. If he had nothing to hide and was confident of his boat why didn't he let me check the boat out and have it surveyed etc. anyways I'm sure everyone will see the boat back up for sale and on eBay and every other website for more years to come I thought they were nice people and this deal was gonna happen but this boat has way too many skeletons in its closet and he cannot sell it for a reason and this is why nobody has bought this boat.too much of a mystery!

Ok me and a buddy went to go look at the boat they seem like very very nice people they have a full machine shop and do complete boat rigging too.he told me right off the bat the price was not 30k which I was under the assumption it was in his ad but he said that was without power he wants 45k for the boat it has 72 hours one motor the other 68 he is claiming the key was left on for 20hours and the actual hours are lower. It's very sad to say but the boat DOES NOT look like it does in the pictures it is VERY dirty from sitting 4years and has been outside in the elements the cockpit cover is ripped and torn there is a lot of water in the cabin where u enter and moist until u get into almost near the front of the boat and in the front of the v iundersell moist and wet under the v birth in the front I pulled up the storage compartment and stagnant old water is sitting up there too the there is also some rust discoloration from water in the vinyl in the cabin major major cleaning the sides of the hull were detailed he said someone was coming back to clean the top deck it was all ashy and needs a very good compounding the cockpit seats are Very very dirty from people going in and on the boat oily etc but probably can be cleaned up now to the motors the dipstick was broken off in the tube when I went to go check it and most of the hoses were weather beaten dry rotted from sitting and clamps were all rusted up there was dirty oily water sitting in the back as well. The starter was hung up on the port motor then it freed up neither motor would stay idling the carbs definitely have to be gone through for sure and there is also a exhaust leak on the port motor as well oh and the seastrainer was leaking I'm guessing from the pressure from the hose?? Idk need less to say I was very disappointed he also told me they water tested it for someone 2 weeks ago and there was no prolems which i a, hard to believe and he is FIRM on 40k I would be hard pressed to say the boat is worth 30 grand the way it is and it defintitely is not a turn key boat plan to put money into it and i hope u are mechanically inclined. I don't understand why that if they are engine builders and build high performance boats that it would be in the condition that it is in I was disappointed if you are planning to come a far distance for this boat I would save your time! I posted exactly what I observed and made ABSOLUTELY NO FALSE STATEMENTS just what I seen in front of me the boat does not look like It does in the pictures and it needs work BOTTOM LINE!!I drove 2 hours to come see it so and was disappointed in the condition of it. If I came from Florida to look at like you told me someone else did I wold have flipped out!!! Your gonna tell me that boat is in water ready condition when it CANNOT IDLE IS LEAKING FROM THE SEA STRAINER STARTER IS HUNG UP EXHAUST HAS A LEAK THAT YOU TOLD ME WAS JUST A ECHO OFF THE WALL BUT WHEN U NOTICED THAT I BEEN AROUND HIGH PERFORMANCE TOYS MY WHOLE LIFE YOUR STORY CHANGED OR HOW ABOUT WHEN THE DIPSTICK WAS BROKEN INSIDE THE TUBE AND I COULDNT EVEN CHECK THE OIL IN THE MOTOR!!!! We wont even get into the water in the hull or how you should be ashamed that your in business for 40 years and your personal boat is trashed and you work on other peoples boats. Isnt that supposed to be a product of your business???? When I told u I wasn't interested in the boat because I found out the history of the boat and you told me to check the serial numbers off of the drives and that cant be true you i knew more than u did about the history of your own boat because I was told they were off a 90's model scarab and the motors were in the scarab as well and the man who put the boat together was the kind of person to just slap things together and the motors were put together with lay around parts and bought as a bare hull from sutphen. So u talked me into it cause u seem like a nice guy and me knowing when the boat is fixed it could be a really nice boat when u told me no problem I could check out the serial numbers etc and on Friday when I told u I was coming with the deposit and not taking the boat that day in a hurry and that u didn't have to rush to fix the boat cause u told me ur son had a race and had work to do on his car and customers boats etc I told u I was gonna have the boat surveyed and over look everything this week and if everything is ok I would take the boat next week, AFTER U TELL ME THE BOATS MINE UR NOT GONNA SELL IT U PUT A BUY IT NOW ON EBAY FOR 37,800 after ME AND U ALREADY MADE A DEAL!!! That really shows me your a man of your word!!!! To sum everything up when Text u this week to see what day I can have the surveyor come and for me to overlook everything on the boat all u were interested in was who my source was of wherei got my information on the boat and u told me the deal wasn't gonna happen and let's lay the facts out of why the deal isn't gonna happen and that YOU DONT WANT ME TO FULLY INSPECT THE BOAT 1 YOU KNOW THAT I AM NOT GONNA LOOK OVER EVERYTHING AND THAT WHEN I DO LEAKDOWN OF THE MOTORS THEY AREN'T GONNA PASS 2 THERE MAY JUST BE A COMPRESSION ISSUE AFTER A COMPRESSION TEST OR 3 THE BOAT HAS BEEN SITTING 7 YEARS IN TOTAL 4 FROM U AND 3 THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND U ARE AFRAID THAT THE SURVEYOR IS GOING TO FIND SOMETHING IN THE HULL OTHER THAN JUST THE STAGNANT WATER LAYING UP IN THERE THAT I SAW WHEN I WAS THERE!!!! SO NOW YOU CAN KEEP THE BOAT CAUSE I DON'T WANT YOUR HEADACHE AND YOUR HIDING SOMETHING AND NOT A MAN OF YOUR WORD WHEN U TELL PEOPLE THEY HAVE A DEAL AND THEN POST IT UP TO TRY TO GET MORE FOR IT AFTER WE GOTTEN OFF THE PHONE!!! I POSTED THIS SO PEOPLE KNOW HOW U ARE AND WHAT TO EXPECT RATHER AND TO NOT WASTE THEIR TIME THAN TO GO SEE SOMETHING AND TO BE DISSAPOINTED WHEN THEY GET THERE AS I WAS!!!!! No drama. I bought the boat. Smooth transaction. Al Sr and Al Jr took me for a test ride. The boat ran great. I took a tour of the shop. Al has established quite a business over 40 years. Great guys it was a pleasure doing business with them.
