Well boys...after many hours over the winter, Jeff's old boat is
finally ready to go. My son and I took it off the stands and onto a
brand new Venture 5225 bunk trailer on Saturday and finally was
able to fire her up outside. All I can say is that it's AWESOME!
Had to change the P/S pump and custom made the pressure hose,
got a real nice original trim pump, and lots of misc. wiring to get
her back in shape. Buffed the underside and only have to do the
sides this week. It's off to Maine Thurs. night...I'm keeping my
fingers crossed that all goes well. Hope to have photos to post
after the weekend. I'm not sure if Rangeley Lake is ready for
this one...I do know it will be the fastest and loudest fishing boat
they have ever seen! LOL. Hope you all have fun and safe 4th of
July. George

Happy to hear shes back in shape ater 2 owners who did nothing but make her worse. It ran like a top whne I had it and as far as I know nothing has been done to it.
So with the power steering pump change and the original (proper) trim pump that boat should be very reliable and fun. the engine has almost no hours on it maybe 10 or 15 at best and its been sitting for a long time so take it easy on her at first give her some tim eto warm up and stretch her legs because shes just really getting out of break in now and theres probably no molly lube left on the came etc.
If you can throw some new oil in that has alot of ZDDP I only run that in my older enegines. Joe Gibbs race oil has alot. theres also a valvoline race oil that has it.
Beyond that all I can say is enjoy it and send me pictures!

Hey Jeff...just a quick question...does the gas guage work? Not
sure how much gas was in it when you were done with it. How
many gallons should I figure for approx 1 hour per run? Thanks
for a reply.

It worked when I had it but that was probably 5 or 6 years ago now. I used to go out for a 6 hours day on driving all day non stop for about $65.00 at $2.50 per gallon.
So with a little math you can probably figure that out. I never went out for an hr If I tookm that boat out I ran it til it was empty.LOL
THe owner after me said there was a rats nest of wires under the dash( old radio wiring) and took it all out, Hes also the one who did the Merc trim pump on a volvo drive so god only knows whats hooked up and whats not.
He owns a car dealership so I figured He'd be OK mechanically but after seeing that boat on the last trailer I wasnt so sure.LOL THat thing was way too small and the bunks were turned on there sides to try and make it fit UH it was awful.
My trailer was ugly Ill give it that but it worked great and was rock solid towing anywhere. All it needed was a good coat of awlgrip and it would have been like a new trailer. IT actually FIT the boat too!
