Depends on year. Generally you can say they were over built like brick **** houses. Call Richie Jr. in NJ. He probably built most that you will find. He also has the molds to build a new one although he retooled the mold to a 27'. Good luck.

Are you looking to build one or buy an old one. Jr. was at Sutphen building while his father was out racing and has the molds for the Rum runner or the new 277. I would call him for any info you need on either. He is a wealth of information not just on these but on every Sutphen ever built. Just my $.02.

Mine is a 1987 with a balsa cored deck, foam cored hull sides and I believe it has a wood cored bottom.

I'd like to find an older one. Not a basketcase project, but something that has no power or needs some work like transom and stringers would be ok. Almost bought a 24 banana last week, but seller backed out 24hrs before my 10hr drive to get it.

As Jamesgang pointed out, JR was laying glass for SR as a teen and has since refurbed more Sutphens of all lengths than SR has. SR is a great guy and would help you too but JR is the go to guy. I lived near JR in NJ and visited his shop often. His skill at glass work and total gut refurbs for any boat is as good as anyone in the industry. 26's are rare birds to come up for sale. I had a 24/7 Pantera and I'd suggest being patient and waiting until a 26 does comes up. Good luck.

I agree. The 26 is worth the wait. I have 2 friends who own them and they both love them. Great all around boat.

gee you seem to know alot Jr. was not there for very long......how could he possibly be a wealth of knowledge he didn't start anything or build anything on his own merits Just my $.02
