How much does it weigh?... twin 420 TRS

This flyer says less than 6000,,, is that true?

Re: 30' Sutphen Ocean Pacer

At that net weight, even if it's a sbc/Alpha boat, the hull would weigh less than 3000lbs. I thought the 26' hull weighed that much, you'll have to weigh yours and let us know.

Anyone ever weigh one these to find the weight? The boat in the add looks like a single? might explain the 5800lbs weight.

MSGANGWAY 05-20-2014 01:04 PM

yes it's true why?? not a single

professor_speed 05-21-2014 08:51 PM

Just that seems light for a twin 420 trs 30Ft.

MSGANGWAY 05-22-2014 01:53 PM

not light just built well that's why they are all still around gosh I think the first 30' race boat is still around and that was built in 1977
what other builder can say that!!

Had a 1980 w/BBC power x 2 and weighed in @ 6100 light on fuel. Had a lot of plywood in the bottom and sides and a lot of glass in the laminate schedule. Also have a 33 84 w balsa core weighs in at 6700 w/2 BBC's. Great boats for the rough!

I didn't realize your duramax could tow the boat that fast! If you had a triple axel trailer it would slow down much more in control!

It probably started to walk big time on you.
With the big B&G engines GA ran 92. After 88 mph it flattened out and rode like it was on rail.

Sutphens are a handful to drive. Once u get the nak it's a piece of cake.

Missed you by 1 day. Went to TKOs for lunch on 7/6. Walt wasn't there - and neither were the Coast Gaurd.

pinball 07-11-2014 09:29 AM

that sucks we do not run into many of us out in that area. next time we out there all the time.

benjen 07-11-2014 03:17 PM

A guy asks how much the 30' weighs and from there it somehow got to running 107. Even in your wildest/craziest dreams that boat has never seen 100+. Come on man. I'll have whatever he's drinking.

There is ocean pacers running north of 100.

benjen 07-13-2014 10:05 PM

WHERE are they?

chsales 07-14-2014 12:30 PM

There' one in IL with 510 BBC's pushing 625HP each (if I remember correctly) with Kaama's, owner claims triple digits and with that package it should be pretty close to it. I wanted to buy it but couldn't make the $$ work at the time.

the tsunami raced with 570 s know it has new 725 s it had 30 s now has 32 s its just a mid 90 s boat it still has the older drives it raced with. so last season we ran it and had drive troubles half the time when we tried the higher speeds. so we run this season 5000 and we have still never even opened the thing up.. next season maybe new drives right know boat runs awesome with no sweat.

shaun harrington 07-15-2014 06:07 PM

What gear ratio are the drives?

pinball 07-15-2014 06:25 PM

1.50 its not just that its old prop shafts lost a new prop so we replaced both and then we blew a gear in one drive . we were getting nickle and dimed all the time. so we have run 6 or 7 times now just 5000 no more than 95 ever and we will have a great summer and make it to fall river .
