I would recommend getting a real marine scoop. Teague has 'em http://teaguecustommarine.com//store...oducts_id=2781

The ones for automotive use are real thin. The ones from Teague are strong enough to have a fat guy stand on them.
I have found a person who builds the light ones to custom make them for me in a heavier layup. He can also make them in carbon fiber...

Exactly. The marine are built with strength as the priority, automotives are designed to shave weight as much as possible. My entire hood on my pro-street car is about the same weight as a marine scoop.

AK,
I have one that I use to have mounted on my Checkmate. Don't know if you could stand on it, but it was strong enough to handle 100+mph runs in boat. Besides unless you have drunken' idiots on your boat, where is the worry that somebody is going to stand on it. If interested send me your email address via PM and I will send you pics. It is white with flames. Not really looking to get a whole lotta $$$ for it.
