Wheres the best place to buy a drive shower ? Are they really worth the money on a 70 mph boat ? I have a Bravo 1. Anybody got one for sale ? Thanks.

Drive showers are worth it on a 50 MPH boat. If you have the coin, you should buy one.

I know that Volvo sterndrives run at lower temps than the Mercs do. But for the average, stock recreational boat, do Alpha or B1/B3 units run hot enough to cause harm? I guess if you have those nasty deposits or white powder around your lower unit, the question is answered.

I've always heard that once you're running big block and/or racing/enhanced power, then a drive shower is warranted. It will give you less breakdown and longer life. But at stock 300HP, does it make a difference?

Thanks for the link. They seem like a pretty good outfit. I guess for that price, how could I go wrong?

I also ask because the inevitable discussion on recreational boards turns to Volvo drives VS Merc drives.

Ok...I like the Hardin Marine shower #130-10. I looked it up at cpperformance (not trying to slam anybody here), and its roughly $100. The thing that kills me is the shipping (to NY) is $30 !!..and it a small item !! Maybe its just me, but man, that kinda ruined it for me. Thirty dollars shipping on a hundred dollar part ? Anybody got any other ideas ? Thanks.

I would use the link I posted above. Simrek is based on Rochester, and the owner is a great guy to deal with. His product has been continuously researched and revised since the '90's. It does exactly what he says it will. And there are many copies of his showers out, which says its something worth duplicating. Not the cheapest out there, but you can be sure they will work and the manufacturer will stand behind the product.
