need #5 drives
#2
I have 6 #5 drives. You can buy "cheap" ones, that you may have to put: upper gears, lower gears, bearings, seals, propshafts, etc. into. A cheap initial price may soon evaporate when you see how much has to be done to bring it up to running condition. All the ones that I have are in excellent shape and ready to bolt on and run. I do not sell any drive that I have not gone through, as I don't want any "come backs". That said, I'm unsure what you mean by "cheap". You get what you pay for. In my opinion, a quality #5 drive is not cheap. I have 2, now, that have new upper cases, bearings, seals, propshafts, vertical shafts, and near new upper net-forged straight cut upper gears and lower gears. Not cheap. Also be aware that some of the early #5 drives came with polygon vertical shafts and polygon upper gears.
