tssteph,

There are two types: Plug-ins & Drive-line

Generally speaking the Plug-ins are used on V-Bottom Hulls and Drive-Lines are used on Cat Hulls. The exception to this is when a V-Hull uses staggered engines then they will use one Driveline and one Plug-in. The other exception is that MTI Cats uses Plug-ins so that the engines can be mounted close to the trasnom.

I understand that a plug in comnfiguration means the tranny connect directly to drive through the gimbal assembly. A non plug in configuration uses a drive shaft with a flangle on each end and in this case the tranny would also have a flange. When I read your post for the gimbals I questioned if they would also work in a non plug in configuration, in other words are there two different gimbal setups, one for plugin and one for a drive shaft setup.
