Hey guys my old man has a 1990 31 that he bought brand new. The boat is very clean but has a soft transom. He is thinking about pulling the power and selling the hull and trailer. The motors were just rebuilt a couple seasons ago and have maybe 10 hours on them. Anyway I was thinking he could sell the motors off seperate to bring more money. The boat would be complete minus motors. New Livorsi gauges and contols were also installed a couple seasons ago. I didn't mean for this to sound like a ad...just putting feelers out. I'll get some pics and you guys tell me what you think it's worth.

If you start selling off small parts like the windshield, seats, kleats, hatches, motor cover, etc., plan on selling everything that bolts to it and burning the rest. Once you strip it down that far you'd be lucky to get $500 for the rest of the hull, esp. with a soggy transom.
Hull and trailer, less power and drives, decent interior should sell for $5-10k.

Why not just yank the engines and drives and what not, and replace the rotted transom, and keep it. Rotted transoms arent the end of the world.
Whats its worth in parts depends on what engines are in it, etc. If it has twin 454/365HP engines or better, that helps. If it is twin 330HP 454's they will be worth less. I'd say the engines and drive package might be worth 10k if they are magnum engines.
Bare hull, and depending on the trailer, i'd guess 5k at best with a rotted transom.
I'd consider listing it for sale complete, and state in the ad that the transom needs to be replaced. Sell it as a complete boat, so someone can purchase it, repair it, and enjoy it. Those scarabs were cool, would be a shame to see it junked. Often transoms can be replaced for the cost of one engine overhaul. And engine overhauls are done everyday.

jdub, you could get by pretty cheap I'm sure just letting Sprouts do the glass and gel work. Then raise the x dim and he will really like that boat again. Otherwise if you do part it out and it has a faring I'd love to replace my windshield
