The casting # is 340220, the bore is 4.25 This is also a 4 bolt main-based on the casting # this block was last made in 1976. I thought it was a 79, sorry-my bad.
I've never shipped a block-I don't know how to crate it or who to bring it to?? Any suggestions?
Bob

Lay it on a pallet upside down and wrap the whole thing with heavy duty plastic wrap. It won't move. If you want to ship the block and the heads I would wire tie (the plastic wire ties) the heads to the pallet, or box them separately, place on each side of the block, and then wrap the whole thing in plastic wrap.

These guys here have worked well for me:

But someone else on here may have a better idea.

I am interested in the block, assembly, and heads. What is the cubic inches on this motor being a tall deck?

Are the 6.135" rods for this 4.250" stroke crank? If so you might want to swing them once because I am sure that the bottoms of the pistons are bound for intercourse with a counterweight. Should be 6.385" rods. Just a quick thought.

Cdail, the block was originally a 427.
Larose, You are right! I'm glad you were paying attention-I checked the build sheet and the rods are 6.385 Correction made to original post. Thanks for pointing this out!
