I have a Kohler 5E genset. 800 Hours removed this spring from my Baja and replaced with a Westerbeke.
The Good - Runs strong, does not burn oil, and makes 110 volts/60 HZ at its rated 3600 RPM
The Bad - The mechanical governor needs to be adjusted and the unit loses coolant after shutdown. It is not drinking coolant and the oil is not milky. The coolant ends up in the drip pan so it is leaking externally. Maybe the heat exchanger? I would just fill it, put a load on it, adjust the speed via the carb, and run the thing all weekend.
Good winter project for someone. $1800 OBO. Willing to help ship at buyers expense.
