Google ads on the first post of every thread?

Come on, you haven't had a good running site for a month and now you add this. I hope Google pays well because I am done paying...........:mad:

I'm not seeing any Google ads on my end?

I saw several but now they are gone again....... It was a 4 inch square of google ads in the upper right hand corner of the first post on each thread. Hopefully it was a mistake, hacker but I suspect they are trying new types of revenue generation.......

don't know anything about it and haven't seen anything

I haven't seen it, but I use FireFox with an ad blocker, so I don't see many ads at all.

Look at the site without signing into your screename........

Did you try clearing out your cookies?

on the left side of the screen...that's that cross promoting the brand "offshore"..now while you search oso you can link up through google to offshore jobs ,offshore food ,offshore bank accounts:evilb::party-smiley-004:

logged in with your screenname you will not see them...... just reading posts as a lurker they are there.

Hey as long as paying for your membership wipes out the ads, and the memebership cost doesn't go up, I don't see the problem....

I guess they have the option of raising the membership fee, or adding more revenue producing content. I don't think the ads are intrusive at all.

there is a group of 4 of them that flash on my screen everytime I refresh or pull up a message. they then go away and take me to the topic.

Not getting them. But my speeds on the site are absolutely awful. I think the new OSO servers are the $19-a-year GODADDY deal.

They pop up every now and then for me but my membership expired in June and I have not gotten around to renewing. I'll renew tonight and see if they go away.

Google uses key words to put certain ads in certain places. They can use keywords on the website, or from your personal cookies. The ads you are seeing arent paying OSO directly, they are paying google to find places on the web to put them.

But don't they (IB) only get paid if someone actually clicks the ad? It seems highly unlikely that anyone from this board would click those ads. They're a little annoying, but it's not too hard to ignore them. And, maybe if they're ignored, they'll go away? Yeah, ok, maybe that's asking too much...

I'm not sure how it works, but why would IB have agreed to have the google ads placed on the site if they aren't profiting from it?

no google ads on my end HOWEVER everytime I access a new thread or post, the entire screen shows me the OSO advertisers that are normally on the left of the screen. Don't like it.

Ads are in the thread! Look up any thread as a lurker (don't sign in your screen name) and they are in the upper right hand corner of the first post of every thread.........:mad:

If they were only off on the left side banner I wouldn't care but in the thread is too much.........

Agreed. I'm signed in every time I'm here, so if it weren't for this thread, I wouldn't have known about the ads.

Edit: Ok, now I do see the Google ads on the left, and I am signed in. I still don't care.
