My Etch-O-Sketch reloads faster than OSO has lately. :)

They are aware of it and replied in the 'Announcement'

Chris Sunkin 08-19-2008 09:24 PM

These new tech guys at OSO are f.ucking clueless and incompetent.

If this was an e-commerce site that people ordered product from, this $hit would've been fixed in minutes.

But, amazingly enough, they'll jump right on burying this thread at the bottom of the forum!

They don't care any more. They have basically ruined this site in less then a year.

Indy 08-20-2008 05:26 AM

This blows...their Ford-Trucks site blows too.

You make it sound as if they once did Jon. And I think that they did it in less than 6 months.

Maybe we can outlast them, and after the membership, the advertisers and the value all drop the remaining membership can get it back for pennies on the dollar. Very easy to verify that the traffic has gone away. The advertisers must be rather unhappy, I imagine.

Audiofn 08-20-2008 06:16 AM

Fund I guess that I should have been more clear. You are correct IB has never cared, Steve did. Team India fails to realize that the sport is a passion and since there are other games in town, even ones that don't cost you anything, people will just go over there. They will go to the site that runs the best. Blows my mind really how fast they have ruined this place.

So Is steve no longer even consulting ??

Has anyone talked to him ???

Ms PatriYacht 08-20-2008 07:34 AM

Yesterday was really frustrating, everything I clicked on took forever to load. I notice posts are way down, at the end of the day in the bilge yesterday only about 6 threads had been posted on the rest were from the day before. I started to type a few replies but decided I did not wait while they loaded up.

Ms PatriYacht 08-20-2008 07:35 AM

today I will say is much quicke, my last post loaded instantly.

cosmic12 08-20-2008 07:52 AM

It seems better today.we will see how it play's out. I gave up last night after I posted this and it took about 5 mins. I almost through my wireless mouse at the screen, thats when I knew it was time to quit:throw:

LaughingCat 08-20-2008 07:53 AM

This is the second time we've experiecne a slow period. Not sure how much longer to put up with it. I like paying so I can see the Uncensored and Bilge, but if the amatuer stuff doesn't stop, it's time to move on.

Poof in 5. . .4. . .3. . . 2. . .1. . .

pkspx 08-20-2008 07:55 AM

IB posted an announcement yesterday about the problems.

detail info here....

cosmic12 08-20-2008 01:00 PM

Well its slowing down again, that didn't last long:Whatever: OSO

Chris Sunkin 08-20-2008 01:09 PM

Better today, but they've only brought it back to where it was post-changeover.

It's amazing that IB, with their vast technical resources can't make a server run as well as some boting hobbyists did- and with less traffic to boot.

It's a good thing they have a new, high-powered, Ivy-league CTO at the helm. Makes you wonder how bad the one they just ditched was...

Internet Brands Names Joseph Rosenblum CTO

LOS ANGELES, May 06, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Internet Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ:INET), a leading Internet media company that operates community and e-commerce websites, today announced it has appointed Joseph Rosenblum as Chief Technology Officer, reporting to CEO Bob Brisco, effective immediately. Rosenblum has overseen all areas of technology development for Internet Brands since 2006, when he joined the company as Vice President of Technology Development.

Prior to joining Internet Brands, Rosenblum served in a variety of management and engineering roles at EarthLink, Inc., including engineering manager and senior software engineer. From 2000 to 2002, Rosenblum served as a software engineer and technical lead at Epinions.com, Inc. Rosenblum has both a B.A. and a master's degree from Stanford University.

"We're confident that Joe will help unlock the potential within our rapidly growing portfolio of high-quality vertical websites," said Bob Brisco, CEO of Internet Brands. "During his two years with us, Joe has already helped us expand our tech team, focus its efforts, and drive important growth initiatives."

Rosenblum succeeds CTO Debra Domeyer, who joined Internet Brands in 1999 as Chief Information Officer and was appointed to her current role in 2000. Domeyer will remain with Internet Brands for a transition period.

"All of us at Internet Brands would like to thank Debra for eight years of outstanding service," Brisco said. "Debra's leadership was important in establishing us as a successful company and setting us up for future growth."

Chris Sunkin 08-20-2008 01:19 PM

Here's something interesting from the IB website- in their PR section

In the first half of 2008, the Company completed 21 website-related acquisitions for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $49.2 million. The financial impact of these acquisitions is included in the Company's 2008 business outlook.
They spent $49 million to buy 21 websites- an average of $2.33 mil each. No wonder they can't afford new servers and are using GoDaddy hosting. ;)

fund razor 08-20-2008 05:19 PM

I wonder, based on the obvious and rapid loss of traffic on this site, exactly how much equity they will lose by first half of 2009 due to a total collapse of PR in the face of incredible technical problems.
Many, if not all businesses that get greedy with growth can't sustain that growth and screw the pooch. In five years, IB will be talked about in business schools like the tech boom of the 90s. Something that happened once because nobody (except the people who sold) realized what was happening in the industry and where the true bubble was.
I will tell you one thing.... Steve is a frigging genius. This forum HAD to be in the upper half of the forums acquired in terms of traffic, membership and advertiser revenue.
Heck.... if the dude didn't sign a non-compete he should spend 10 grand on the equipment necessary to kick their butt with a new forum. Perhaps OOSO. (Off Off shore Only.) Or ROSO. (Real OSO) Or maybe "Steve's fast boat world."

Or maybe Chris Sunkinland. I have my credit card ready.

Bobthebuilderworld?

Offshoredrillinland?

Bouyhunter.org?

cosmic12 08-20-2008 05:25 PM

I cannot tell you how sick to death of this crap I am. It is down to a crawl again, I will see how long it takes to load this took forever to get to this point. I am so not reupping in Jan 09. Dun Dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Chris Sunkin 08-20-2008 08:10 PM

I hit the IB corporate site earlier. It's no speed demon either.

satisfactionII 08-20-2008 08:10 PM

All the above complaints are part of the reasons did not re-up. I am really tired of the slowness and all the damned stat machines being used on this site. Every notice at the bottom of your browser how much chit is being run accross the net. I look at it this way, if I pay I don't want them tracking me, giving me ad after ad and a damned slowazzed bunch of servers to boot.

Audiofn 08-20-2008 08:55 PM

I think that this will be the members of OSO aproaching IB soon.

Who thought this was IB's business plan?

-Raise millions on IPO

-Spend big on niche intenet community sites

-Ignore all facets of their daily operations

-Completely fumble every effort we make

-Reduce traffic to nothing

-Make a fortune by.... uhhh... ummm....

You gotta' give it to them, they're at least sticking to the plan.

Racegirl3 08-21-2008 07:51 AM

You guys that were talking about IB ruining OSO were sayin things like they were gonna come in and moderate us to death .... get rid of UC section and stuff like that. Nobody mentioned them F'in up the hardware/software :D

Chris Sunkin 08-21-2008 07:59 AM

Who would have ever guessed they'd stroke a check for a few mil, then neglect it?

It's like buying a new Enzo and parking it in a lot space at your local WalMart. Over the entire weekend.
