how far is it 2 the lock from hales???? we might just ride up river to the lock...

To the upstream lock? Upstream to the Chickamauga lock is about 32 miles, downstream to Nickajack is about 6.

I've gone from Knoxville to Pickwick before and this section was probably my favorite length of the 600 mile trip. I would suggest running up to at least downtown chattanooga.
