HOUSTON - A strong weather system currently dumping feet of snow in California's Sierra Nevada has its sights set on the nation's midsection, including Texas.

The storm will take a few days to migrate from the west coast to Texas. Before the storm gets here, we'll have warm, humid and breezy conditions. Winds will pick up to between 20 and 25 mph and highs should continue to be in the mid 80s.

The core of the storm will pass north of us, but an associated cold front will push into the Houston area Sunday night or Monday. As it draws near, expect heavy downpours and potentially strong storms that bring up to 3 inches of rain in some areas.

The rain should clear out by Tuesday morning at the latest. In its wake, the humidity will drop and afternoon temperatures may hold in the upper 70s through mid- to late-week.

How was the new bucket? It was apparently cruiser day on the lake today. I went by to work on the Trojan and everyone's slip was empty. Good to see the lake getting used again. Not good to see very little rain today.
