Tres Martin

Topps guys & girls -- Clear Lake & Lake Conroe: There is a post in the general boating section where Tres Martin is planning their 2008 schedule. Any interest out there for one in the Houston area?

I think it will be based on how many names we can get together. The more we could line up, the better the chance to get one scheduled. I am guessing that this would also help on your insurance.

Haven't we done enough for the LA boys???? I think LA has worn out their welcome in TX since Katrina:evilb::evilb:

gerritm 01-07-2008 05:55 PM

I spoke to my insurance agent and they will give a 10% discount after completing the course. Another incentive to do it.

SANLEONKID 01-07-2008 07:21 PM

I'll put my name in the hat. Who knows I might even finish the run ....

H2Xmark 01-07-2008 09:49 PM

how much is the class??

gerritm 01-08-2008 06:57 AM

I have insurance through Empower Ins. Brokers. It is American Reliable Insurance. the broker's name is Stacy. They have offered a 10% discount to anyone having their insurance and completing the course. Anyone looking for performance boat insurance should give her a call and get a quote. Their prices were good and Empower and Stacy are very easy and competent to deal with. Here is her toll free # 866-792-4149.

I do not know the cost, but part of it would be based on how many people we can get.

Tres 01-08-2008 10:14 AM

NOT GOOD FOR ME!! Pick another, maybe later. I'll be in Aspen snow skiing. Feb. here can be very cold rainy and windy too.

Tres, where do you hold the class? Is it on the water or in a classroom. Some of details might help out. Cost, length of class, number of entries needed.I am pretty much free anytime after the end of January. Most of the people that I have contacted are thru the Topps -- OSO post, but we could contact the Topps club presidents of Lake Conroe and Clear Lake and maybe get an official list together. I am a member of the Clear Lake Topps. Maybe BYUBOY could take the lead from the Conroe group.

Tres 01-08-2008 12:04 PM

Or April 7-8 in the Houston Area.

We should use a meeting room from a hotel or Office space , hell I do it at people homes more than I expect. But the next day would be on the water for a few hours. If we can do merc marine in Wis during the winter it cant be too bad in Tx. just wear more clothing:D

Tres, I sent an e-mail to the president of the Clear Lake Topps Club to see if he can get the word out to the rest of the club. I will let you know when I hear from him. That date will work for me.

tomtbone1993 01-08-2008 12:29 PM

I think Conroe is thrown in with the "Houston area":party-smiley-004:

gerritm 01-08-2008 04:31 PM

I spoke with Tres on the phone today and Lake Conroe might be a better location for the on the water portion of the class. Clear Lake might be too small. He said the smoother the water and less busy the better. We need 4 to 6 people total to make a class. That is about as big as you would want it. Part of it is classroom and part practical in your own boat. It can be a combination of both clubs. If we can get that many people together for this and settle on a date, it is a go.

San Leone Kid and Beak 42, what do you guys think? PM me and I can give you an idea on the cost.

You provide me with the specs, price per person, final date, ect...ect.. I will let the LC group know.

Could probaly do it at one of the club hosues durning the week as well. We already have a 500.00 non refundable deposit at April Sound Country Club. Could be a good venue for the classroom setting.

Tres , sounds like we have 3 from Topps CL. Beak 42, San Leone Kid, and myself. I spoke to the new president of Topps Cl yesterday and he is going to announce it at the meeting and banqet this weekend and send out an e-mail to the members to see who may be interested. I don't know who from Topps LC is interested. I believe they are contacting you direct.

I said Lake Travis but Conroe location for those alternate dates would be preferable.
