Lake Conroe Storage and Info
 

Moved to Houston about a year ago from LA.( Actually from the Tickfaw, home of the 200). I am bringing the boat to Houston in a week or so and would like some information , suggestions, ect.

I need to get covered storage for 35FT Fountain. I perfer it to be on the water or very near by. What are the good storage places (cost, security), how is the lake as far as running conditions, atmosphere with fellow boaters, poker runs? What are the great hangouts on the lake? Does this lake generate a lot of lake lice?

Also my boat in Documented with the CG. In LA we do not have to register with the state if its with the CG. What will I need to do to be compliant with TX regulations.

only waterfront storage i know of that will hold a 40ft trailer and be on the water, is old river road boat storage, lake is good and at normal level, you will need to register with texas parks and wildlife, papas on the lake is the place to be, and the "TOPPS" club of lake conroe is the gang... other suggestions for storage are mcaleb road storage, probably only have 60ft stalls left, ony about a mile from the closest ramp, and about 2-3 to another good ramp, on the water, you don't have to worry about anything, this ain't like leaving your boat in the tea like in the swamps

105 storage is were alot of the homo's on this site keep their boats. I keep mine in the water at Inland marina. Both have well above average security. I would not listen to boat ***** because he does not have a boat and he takes it in the can.....My .02:D

Not really into to the hole (pun intended) homo thing, so I guess I am going to try Inland first. :D Actually I tried calling them all day to day and could never get them to pick up the dam# phone. I think I am just going to take a ride up there on Saturday and take a look around. May even stop in at Papa's.

Inland like most of the marinas is closed on Mondays

BTW it will be nice to have a Fountain on Lake Conroe, don't really see that many of them around here....

Didnt mean to get everything stirred up, but sounds like this is a great group.

So there arent too many Fountains around Conroe? I could not say the same for Travis. Went up there for a Poker Run and you would have thought Reggie was having a Regatta.

If I can get storage this weekend then I hope to have it here by next week.

So who is going to be around this weekend. I would like to put names with faces and get some locals perspectives.

If the Conroe boys are too wild for your taste:evilb::evilb: you can always come to Clear Lake. There is no beak envy here. They are a great crew and one of these days we are going to go and see what Lake Conroe has to offer. We were at the Lake Travis poker run this weekend and it did look like a Reggie sponsored Fountain regatta.:D

Actually I went and looked around Clear Lake two weeks ago. I did the TPA run last year. Had a great time. The only thing that concerns me about Clear Lake is running in the salt (brakish). Though its not much different from running Tickfaw/Ponchatrain

What type of maintenance does it take? I looked around for storage there too. Couldn't find to much except for Endeavor.
Maybe I just didnt know where to look.

Where ever I decide to land permanantly, Conroe or Clear Lake, I am sure we will be going all over bumping into one another. We enjoy traveling to Poker Runs. (Travis, Texoma, Destin, Jacksonville, and of course Tickfaw):D

I have my boat at Endeavor, there is another nice facility called South Shore Harbor, they have a dry stack. As far as maintenance, I have closed loop cooling, so other than I wash the exterior of the boat down after every run and flush the engines, there is not much difference. I do try to keep the engine compartment clean and flushed. We are all doing Destin this year. Topps of Clear Lake has their big poker run on June 20-21. Let us know when you will be out on Clear Lake or Galveston Bay and we will introduce ourselves.

Made it up there yesterday to look around. Thanks Boatbiatch. I found enclosed storage at Old River Road. I am leaving out Thursday to pick up the boat and bring it to the lake.

We acutally went to Papas for a little while to listen to the band after we left the storage . It suxs being a shore monkey, but we got a chance to look around That all will change next weekend, because the boat will be in the water.

With this guy, I think there are so many fountains on the lake now you have to use both hands to count them.

Conroe is turning into a fountain magnet. Were they on sale, or did they give you guys a tax break for moving them here.

I was familiarizing myself this weekend with the surroundings, but next weekend if you see a 35 FT Fountain named Just an Illusion, burgundy with tribal paint with hail port as Baton Rouge, LA... Please introduce, we are looking to meet and greet.

If you see a 42 fountain with Smooth Operator on the back being towed in by a bass boat.
