2000 Ford F-550 Value

Looking at a 2000 Ford F-550 with:
7.3 Powerstroke
4.88 rear end (?)
4X4
Western Hauler bed
XLT (leather et. al)
4 new tires
120,000 miles
New transmission (October 2004)
70 gallon tank
Totally loaded and is said to be in perfect condition with all service records.

Used to haul horses.

I went on Kelly Blue Book, but it is hard to add in a lot of the features to the price. Any thoughts on this truck... yes, I did a search and have all old comments posted.

Any idea as to what this is worth?

Thanks!

Re: 2000 Ford F-550 Value

Don't know anything about it other than a friend said he had one a couple years ago and those gears were great for low end, but highway driving was a nightmare. WOT was in the 60's. He sold it after a few months.

Re: 2000 Ford F-550 Value

The owner damaged the transmission while towing ~20,000 pounds up a gravel road with a very steep angle. She stated that the grade was so severe for about two miles that the tranny finally let go.

This is her story.

Any idea on value of the truck?????

Re: 2000 Ford F-550 Value

A 4:88 will be banging the red line at 70mph....Not good for fuel mileage......just another "clowns" opinion
And yes....I learned this in a wrecker.....

I would advise getting a Diablo programmer and tweaking a little more power out of it. I've done it to mine without incident. The truck will go well into the 90's (mph) if the need would ever arise, not sure why it would. The only concern I would have is why it needed a transmission so early. The least I've ever gotten from one was 165,000 miles.

lighten up jackass, you and your trial membership havent earned the right to call anyone a clown phucktard!

Really....6 days membership at the most, I acknowledge my info is second hand and questionable and I'm the clown???? Offshore has the right to call me a clown (it's somewhat true) but he's earned that right, sounds you have some people skills that need a little attention.

boomer880 let me check with my friends here, he has a use truck lot 3/4 tons and up, he will have a good wholesale value and retail for you, also is it an auto or manual and is it a western hauler conversion or just that type of bed on it, most conversions have all the woodgrain and a tag by them on it if no outside logo.

Thanks Hard-on for the feedback. Let me know what your friend has to offer.

The truck has a true Western Hauler bed (I want this or a regular pick-up bed) and all of the options I originally listed. I did not want to influence the estimated value of the truck, but she is asking $30K for the unit. It is on Traderonline if anyone wants to take a look.

Thanks.

I will give it to you none of these will get great mileage

Put a 10k load on a 7.3 with 4 speed auto&4:88s & see what she will do...about 8mpg & a short life. It wouldnt hurt to lighten up a little...We can agree to dis-agree without the insults :D

Thanks for quoting the first line in my sentence.....As it said I was merely passing on the opinion of someone who HAD one of those trucks. I was not claiming first hand experience nor that the info was completely valid. Several other members have posted similar "results" with the 4.88 gears so I'm not so sure my freind was off in his claims of less than 70mph.

As for something I now have first hand knowledge of is a very unfriendly, arrogant, azzhole who has recently joined OSO world named "irepoforyou". Did you think your first comment to me was appropriate? What is your agenda here? If you had just admitted the "clown" comment was a little out of line this would have ended there.
Good Luck getting any help from the membership here. These people have been great to me, but I treat them with a little respect in return!

irepoforyou,
And I see you prove again that you are willing and open to other opinions in the 450/ 550 thread?
PS. my buddy only stated the 7.3L with the 4.88's were a pig, I didn't get any feedback to pass along regarding the 450/550 springs, etc.

Can we combine all these truck threads into one????

I don't have any questions about the trucks. My original input was some second hand info I had been given that I felt would be helpful if passed along. The rest has just been childish behavior that needed to stop.
I notice your alot less combative this morning. Glad to see the attitude change.

Theres an F450 and an F550 Western Hauler for sale at a truck lot here in Central Florida and both of the trucks were listed in the mid to high 20's
Don't seem to be real quick sellers in this area. I guess ya gotta have a specific need for something like that.
They may be listed on there website, Gibsontruckworld.com.

With the price of diesel going through the (same price as premium) maybe you should look for a v10 f550 you would get a better price.

gear vendors overdrive takes care of the 4.88's, air bag conversion tames the ride a little or add weight to the rear of the truck,,, my freightliner sportchassis had about 1000lbs of steel plates hanging from the rear of the frame
