Sweet... I havent even looked at any sleds lately... I might be moving up to PA this fall so I WILL have some more....good luck shopping!

Hey Chris, STAY AWAY FROM THOSE BUY BACK TRUCKS!!!!! When you go to resell they are worth .50 on the dollar. Right now he probably paid .66 on the dollar. Try to wait for the new Suburban. It will be a 2007, but the 2006 is going to be a very short model year for G.M. Let me know if I can do anything for you. Am I going to see the AMT at GL's next run?

We have a 2003 GMC Yukon XL 2500 4X4 with the 8.1L and 4.10 gears. It is loaded and works just fine as a daily driver. The engine and tranny do well while towing 12K. May step up to a dually for more stability and capacity, but do not really like the idea of a dually for a daily driver.

Gotta go with the Ex on this one so far

I have always been a GM person, however have owned a couple dodges and now the Ex
Tons of room. Much more comfortable then the Sub.
I like the tripple doors in the rear.
However i do have the V10. I could not justify a diesil as a daily driver for myself since 75% of my driving is less then 10 miles.
I have a car to use as a daily driver to offset the fuel usage.
I have used 1/2ton trucks and suburbans, 4 of them, in the last 5 years.
This truck pulls the boat like it is not there. Love the strenght and stoutness of it.
I drove a 3/4 sub with the 8.1 and i did not like the softness when towing. Yes, daily driving it was sweet. But towing left more room for softness then the Ex. The speed sensing steering I rally did not like either on the Sub

go with a ex w/ power stroke it will pull circles around the gms guranteed i know first hand, and get 16 mpg when towing or not. :drink:

If you are considering resale the Excursiuon is being discontinued after 2006.

The Suburban will be around forever.

The gas Excursions are pigs, the V10 sucks gas worse than the GM 8.1L and does not have the same power IMHO.

i have an 03 2500 suburban w/ a 6.0 & 4:10 gears. just towed a 41 apache from michigan to illinois got 14.2 empty @ 81-82 mph with cruise & a/c on running the 245's. looks like 9 pulling around 14,000. swithched out the 245 tires for 285/75/16 BFG KO's. they fill up the wheel wells nice & look great on the factory polished wheels. pulled the boat to LOTO last weekend, pulled fine for us, in the hills just outside LOTO dropped out of OD & maintained speed[60] on the hills. had computer reprogramed at LOTO & pulls harder & is more responsive around town & out on the road. haven't towed with it reprogramed yet or ck'ed mileage. all we need is a little more tongue weight & that should be fixed when we bring it back in september. this is wifes everyday driver, don't really want to make her drive a dually everyday. she loves the suburban.

No offense, but 14K lbs. with a Suburban? You are looking for trouble. Do you have electric brakes? A weight distributing hitch? A Class-V hitch on the vehicle? And a 6.0? That 'burb had to be REALLY tached up to move at 80.

I tow with the exact same truck except the 3.73 gears. 80 with my Formula (31) is around 2,500 RPM's. Gears would add a few hundred RPM's, but 14K sounds a bit scary. (total load I'm around 10,500.)

it was turning about 2800rpm. i was NOT towing at that speed. i was towing at 60mph max. i wouldn't dream of towing it at 80mph. it pulls it fine with the 6.0. not trying to win any races. i drive way ahead of where i'm at. i'm sure this is probably at the suburbans limit. twice a year won't hurt it. the weight dist. hitches seem to me to be a band aid for people who don't have enough truck.. at least in my experiences from people i know who use them. the boat is more than likely going to live at LOTO.
