miami:we go up and thru hills and mountains with the 350 adn it does fine as long as we keep it below 65. we have been redoing the boat for the past year , and only put it in the water once, and that was with the mechanics 350 dually diesel 4wd. im quite sure by how the boat pulls that it could make it up the ramp with no problem. the only problem with this setup is jacknifes (would be mostly cured if were gooseneck, and dually)

wannabe: when we were trailering the cig with the 150 it had an empty bilge(-approx 2400 pounds) and no fuel(-approx 2100 pounds). still we didnt get to far....good thing it had a bumper hitch which stopped us from towing it home that day. or else we would have attempted to go for it=big mistake. to realy tow this boat well you would prob need at least a 350 diesel w/aftermarket turbo, dually w/raised+big heavy duty shocks, and a gooseneck set-up. we tow our little 18ft checkmate around for fun, but for my dad and I, towing a 42 ft boat around is too hard of a job no matter what kind of set-up you have

Just drove home my new dually F 350 tonight.This is my 3rd dually in 3 years,I bought a 2005 ford e 350 passenger van to be able to bring the kids and all our stuff but there was no way we could pull the 382 fastech comfortably.Its a vicious cycle but who needs to break down or kill someone because you cant stop.I had the 7.3 and the 6.0 and never had any probs,hope this truck runs the same.

Chevy K-3500 crew cab dually 4X4 w/airbags, 454; 4.10 gears pulling 377 Scarab on 44' trailer; w/fuel and gear about a 14 k load. I definitely notice that I'm pulling something. Never had to use 4WD leaving the ramp, still a must though if only for low range in a pinch.

My little F150 Lightning does a great job with heavy tow duty(311 on trailer 11300lbs). Air bags, weight distribution bars, 6 wheel electric brakes all help too. The Lightning comes from Ford as a high performance truck(5.8HO,HD trans,HD 4:10 diff,oil/trans coolers,and HDframe), turns out it tows good also. The short wheel base makes it a little scary over 65mph though. I'm going to use it to tow my 353 in the spring(12100lb on trailer), since I decided to upgrade the boat instead of the truck! FYI: the 311 is for sale, great boat!

What's the big deal ?
I routinely tow my Formula 370SS Cruiser, 67 miles each way, with my 72 Chevy Vega Wagon ( weight distribution hitch ).
Even in narrow hilly residential streets, I can maintain nearly 70mph, once I get going. . .

I've had this combo for eight years, logged around 2500 miles with it, and have had no problems with it! Opinions are one thing, but wishing bad luck on a person, well that sucks! I know my combo, I dont recommend it, but it works. Maybe its time to come down off that soap-box.

It may work fine, towing more weight than the vehicle can handle, but if God forbid something were to happen, insurance companies would have issues.... If there is a loophole they will find it.

When I bought my gmc 2500 diesel the first thing I did was buy a much heavier duty hitch. Not the receiver, but the whole application that bolts to the frame.
