It would be funny to have a boat hooked to that thing and just drive right into the water at a busy boat ramp just to see the look on everybodys face.

We had a 42ft bus before the boat. It was great for traveling, but no way to stay legal when towing boat. Like said before, I would look at a FL70 or similar with custom living quarters. These can be found with very large cabins with slideouts in some cases.

Just my .02 worth

I ran a pusher (turbo Deisel), they are the only way to travel & go up & down hills and little on fuel.Wife & three kids.

Motorhome pulled a 32ft. enclosed trailer with 3 alxes.
Pulls great, but hard to move around. You must know where your going without getting lost.

With a pusher, you can not put weight distribution bars.
Motor in the back you need the tongue weight.

Best way: Buy a toterhome. Its a tractor with living space & lisenced as a motorhome. More power, less size & easier on the ramps. my 2cents.

My parents have a 40something ft. Monaco that they spend the winter in Sunshine Key with and they have just as many problems with it as most people have with boats, (always something minor that needs fixed and its only a few years old). He pulls a 25ft fishing boat with it and says its a total pain in the azz.

if you buying one just to take to poker runs FORGET IT! like everyone else said get a more accomodating boat or get a room.

Now if you plan on going to far off places and staying for months at a time, go for it.lw

Ginger,
I just purchased a 2002 40' American Eagle diesel pusher. My father helped guide me in the right direction. (Experience) 400 hp would be the minimum. Cummins also has easy hp upgrade kits. I just put 5,000 miles on mine in the last month. Took it to AZ where my father lives. We went through the entire coach front to back and serviced everything. I learned more in one week than most people learn probably know in a lifetime! All I can say is that it will probably compare to owning a twin engine go fast boat. Be prepared to work on it every spare moment. I really like mine and look forward to my future trips. I won't be using it to tow my Formula as much as I would like to.

get a converted fl60 fl70 freightliner with the homes or the sterling set up. lots of towing capacity and a diesel, or look at a totterhome set up where it has a flat bed portion after the cab over the rear axles very nice set up for some pics look at www.becksmarine.com www.flyingamotorsports.com www.glconversions.com www.haulmarkmotorcoach.com www.kibbi.com www.unitedspecilitiesinc.com www.profabcoaches.com now for some used ones look at www.racingjunk.com in the transport/ towing section wil aobut 182 toters forsale and motorhomes and garage homes.

Duke,

I love the American line (traditon, eagle, heritage, dream) but can't get a handle on the invoice vs msrp on a new one. What did you Eagle go for 4 years old? Mileage/ Options?

I would never have bought a new one. Never buy one unless you can get one for wholesale or under. There is an ubandance of motorhomes for sale at any given time and you are in the drivers seat. I got mine at 10K under wholesale. I can use it for 1-2 years and get my money back or come close to breaking even. Buy a good name for easy resale as well. No less than 2 slides, 400hp. I'm no expert but have had alot of knowledgable people help me. Good luck Let me know if I can help out.

Average mileage is 6-8000 mile per year. Mine had 38K. Little higher than average. Every available option except heated tile floors and ouside freezer. The customerr service is outstanding. Called them at least a dozen times on questions with my coach an they answered the phone (No voice mail) and took care of my question everytime. Very impressive.
