Uhhh, that's not what fellow GM owners are saying.

Another read on the rear-end issue. How is the CTS-V going to beat the Hemi when it can't take off from a light?
My advise, save the money, get a Charger SRT-8...4 doors, fast and not an old man's car, as your wife would say.

buy on 06 bmw m-5 if you want a killer sedan & the have creative finance plans. They are 7 speed paddle shifted 500hp v-10.Guarenteed the only cooler sedan thats faster for realistic money is the m-6 & they dont come out till fall

The M5 is a real nice vehicle but you are up in the $80's vs 40's for CTS-V. Now are there vehicles I would look at in the $120's vs the M5....yep. From a price standpoint not a good comparison. I know of a couple teams that picked up a CTS-V, pulled the interiors, tires and shocks and went racing. From a drag car standpoint, I wouldn't be suprised that if you were to make some minor suspension/tire changes you would be in the low 12's. In fact, I believe a magazine did a test on one when they first came out with different rear tires and it was down in the low 12's...they are not a drag car.

I ran across Motor Trend 1/21/05 where they ran a test of the V, SRT and GTO. The V spanked the SRT-8 in every performance aspect including the 1/4...13.1 vs 13.2 ...imagine that

Do some research on the CTS-V, if and that's IF you could get it to hook up well enough to run a low 12...the rear end would grenade, just like the last gen camaro's 7 bolts that blew up once you bolted on sticky tires, such as cheater slicks. Put into the equation that no auto is available...some of us are in bumper to bumper traffic, and the CTS-V just doesn't compare to the 300C SRT or Dodge Charger SRT, the latter which stickers under $40K and runs the quarter faster.

Saw a Mallett CTS-V Conversion today...sound like one badass auto. The owner had it locked and was alrady gone buy the time I got to it. The motor really sound as if it had tons of work....almost like a NASCAR motor

Chase910, take a look at Car & Driver 1/20/06. One of their test guys commented the M5 wasn't worth 20K more than a V. Also bested the M5 times on the track. If you love the M5 that is all that matters....get the check book out and enjoy
