Electric Trailer Breaks
I presently have surge breaks on my trailer how hard/expensive is it to convert to electric brakes or can it be done? Also, is it really worth doing?

Re: Electric Trailer Breaks
Not hard at all. Cost @750 if you do it your self. @1200 for someone else to do it. They work much better that surge. It's really an electric over hydrolic system.

Re: Electric Trailer Breaks
Scott, what does it take?
I have a Dico Model 10 coupler with Kodiak discs on two axles. Total weight is 12K with boat and trailer and fuel. I'd like to do away with the surge coupler if possible. Can you do it in the parking lot during the Chill-Out? (JK) |
Re: Electric Trailer Breaks
A solid coupler needs to be installed (unbolt the old bolt on the new) Install ele/hyd unit, hook up brake line, bleed system. replace trailer plug with a seven pin plug, wire as needed. Install brakeway system ( battery, cable and switch) That would do it...........for your system about 1500-1600 total.
AND NO..............I WON'T DO IT THERE :evilb: I'll be there to party (would you really want a drunken person working on your trailer??) |

Re: Electric Trailer Breaks
Dyno, where did you purchase your parts for the conversion? Do they have a web site I can order from? Thanks
