Default Duramax Break In

Hey guys, what is the approximate break in for the 2005 Duramax LLY? I'm talking about when you have achieved maximum MPG and power released by less friction. Thanks, Ken.

The manual says 500 miles. I've got about 1700 on mine now but haven't really noticed a change in mileage or power?

check out thedieselplace.com you'll find the info you're looking for there, looks like some argue it could be as much as 25k-30k

No BS, mine honestly seemed to loosen up around 10K..... I did break it in hard tho, so maybe that explains it compared to 25K-30K that some are reporting....

Runs like a scalded monkey tho....

Mine seemed like a different truck after a long & heavy tow at 6000 miles. Been running great for 70k miles since then.
