how much diesel does it take?

Bone stock 2000 PSD 4x4 CC Dually with 60,000 miles, and I get 12-13 or so MPG not towing (4.10 rear end)
Undo the big heavy spring that keeps tension on the throttle pedal pushing back on your foot. Tie wrap it to the side of the shaft. There is still a spring tension returning the pedal to rest, but its much lighter on your foot. It really helps to ease on and off with appling the throttle, and its a HELLUVA lot more comfrortable to drive.

The only way to get that mileage out of a '01 dually is to have it chipped, exhaust, etc....

The real question you should be asking is where did all the extra diesel go? It either went out of the tail pipe in the form of thick black smoke, or it went somewhere else. If your truck was smoking excessively that could explain it, but I would also check your oil to make sure it is not diluted with diesel. Many times a bad injector will allow fuel to enter the oil. I hope the cam sensor fixed your issue, but generally they are either good or bad, and when they are bad the truck will not run. Good Luck

I had a customer stop by a few days ago with a late 90's powerstroke diesel he bought at the auction. He really liked the truck but said it sured seemed to burn ALOT of fuel,he was seeingaround 7-8 mpg roughly. He fired this thing up (it was about 55 dgrees outside) and it smoked so bad from being rich that my eyes were watering even outside. We scanned it with my snapon mt2500,the intake air temp sensor showed -37 degrees or something, shorted the leads with a paper clip to check the circuit, scanner showed 100 plus degrees so we knew wiring and circuit was good. He picked up a new IAT sensor and told me today his mileage has doubled. Just something else to check,Smitty

RedDog,
Your mileage still seems pretty high compared to mine. Can you verify the rear end? It should be stamped on the rear pumpkin as 41L or 37L or something similar.
Thanks.
