how much diesel does it take?
I know alot of things factor on how much diesel you burn in your rigs, chips, tire size ,pipes, etc. I have a 2002 7.3 ps with a chip, set on tow, tires and pipes with 55,000 miles. and averaging 8 to 9 hundred dollars from St Clair Mich to Ft Myers Florida one way 1500 to 1600 round trip each time without a load.
That is approx. 1600 miles or so, is this normal for anyone else that has made this trip before with a diesel truck, because if I have to keep this up, It would be easier to fly or swim.

I have a 2005 GMC 2500HD with the Allison/Duramax combo, crewcab, 4x4, shortbed that is lifted 6" with 35's. I have a Hypertech programmer,(stage 3) AFE airbox and 4" exhaust and I average 17-22 miles per gallon on the freeway running 75mph. I can go from my home in California to my home in Lake Havasu City, Az. (approx. 300 miles) on a tank of fuel and have some diesel to spare. That's less than $70.00 of fuel.
Is your oil old and dirty? How about your fuel filter and air filter? Your mileage is exceptional LOW. Something is definately not right. You shouldn't even pay that much one-way to haul a large boat.

i was going to say 10 plus or minus 2.. if you have to drive threw the mountains and how heavy your foot is... and then factor in the chop, air pressure, air temp, safty gear aboard.. and then if you talk to reggie the boat should run 180's all day.. LOL
10 miles per gallon plus or minus 2.. the guys that are haully boats out of FLA are charging 1.6o to 1.75 per mile..

My 01 DRW 7.3 PSD I get 450-500miles per tank no load with a Bullydog set on lowest setting. You have something wrong, even with a full load you should get aleast 10mpg. You might want to get rid of that chip and see if you mpg improves.
