Winch stand failure
While testing the trailer brakes in a remote parking lot prior to vacation I jammed on the brakes and almost lost the boat. Good thing I had my rear tied downs or I could have had BIG problems. Looks like the u-bolt snapped causing the stand to fold like alluminum foil
last pic is what it should look like and the other 2 is what it looks like after a trial panic stop. Looks like I will be changing the u-bolts, this new trailer that I bought may be using substd materials-better check yours out if you have a similar trailer.

Re: Winch stand failure
Looking in the truck rear view mirror and seeing 10K+ lb's of fiberglass still coming toward the truck while I was a a full stop-scared the crap out of me and the noise of winch stand metal deforming did not comfort the wife
jm, good idea to seperate functions of stand and winch.
eL, Nice Shot of your Rig, Apache?
Disappointed mfg of my 10 mo. old trailer isn't concerned more about true safety to allow such inferior components.
