The entire drive train on the 2500HD is the same as on a 3500 Dually....
It'll tow that load like a dream... You should have no worrys.
I have pulled twice that with a 3500... really.
I know a guy that pulls 18,500 with a 2500. He added air bags to the rear suspension, but that's it... His truck just turned over 140k. Never had an issue.
Remember, this is a GM we're talking about, not a Ford.

Thanks guys, it sounds like I should be ok as long as my tires and brakes are up to the task.

I have the exact same truck with the chip and I used to pull my Top Gun to loto all the time. I never even had to turn the chip down.

I would ask the EGT question at the Diesel Place.

Lots of good info there.

if your going to tow that type of load set the hypertech in the lowest setting there is.you will still get a decent little extra grunt when pulling. If you leave it up high and start to pull some hills your egts will get a crawling. if any type of mods are done I would reccomend getting an egt gauge and boost gauge installed in the truck. Not that hard to add and a couple hundred for the a pillar and gauges.

I have both an exhaust temp and boost gauge. I have the Bully Dog programmer on mine. I'd go ahead and turn it down on yours if you don't have a gauge. Mine has been fine but I can watch it to make sure.
