New Pull Rig Poll

[QUOTE=Wobble]I seriously doubt that you will get any facts here
Of the 2006 models, the Duramax Allison combination has won all the magazine comparison tests that I have seen. The most detailed one is linked above.
They are all great trucks, Ford and Dodge are at the end of their engine life cycles with new engines due out. The 06 Duramax is basically all new with the six speed Allison.
From January 2007 Diesels will have to carry a reported extra 200-300lbs of emission controls. That puts a major question mark against any of the 2007/2008 models as far as reliability goes.
As to the facts, these are just explainations as to what has transpired on my trucks. I really dont have a favorite between the GMC and Ford. We do push them harder by towing heavier than the typical consumer, but are also maintained much better as well. We trade every year, or sell to our employees. The 2 duramaxes had issues with something slipping in both trucks in first gear. It was fixed and has not happened again. My 04 f350 also had some issues with the engine, minor but a pita. The GMC is the most refined truck of the three, but when taxed with heavier payloads, and or towing at its limits the suspension is the worst. No question on how quiet, or powerfull this duramax is, and is great for a typical consumer, where the Ford holds up better when continually taxed to the max. Good luck. Jeff

I voted Ford. I just bought a 2003 Excursion with the 6.0L, although I only tow a 7,200 lb boat. Previous truck was a 2001 GMC Yukon XL Denali, which when not towing was a great truck (Except for clatter and milage).
I looked at a 2006 (LBZ) GMC 2500HD, F250, and Dodge 2500. I really liked the GMC, as the interior was identical to my previous truck and the engine was quieter and stronger (Seat of the pants) than the engine in the Denali. However teh deal was not consumated, as we could not work out a good deal (To me) on the trade. I test drove the dodge, but did not care for the interior. I liked the ford exterior and interior the best, the drivetrain was the roughest out of all trucks and they were more expensive when similarly equipped.
In any case, they all seem to have equal pulling power and get close to teh same milaeg, so I went with looks and found a used one, albeit in SUV form. Like has been said before, all trucks are good and have improved substainially in the last few years. Can't go wrong with any of them.

buy what you like.. all three are american made and will get the job done... lets face it, these trucks are for pulling our boats not working the piss out of them.. if that was the case, i could see the big to do... none of us are racing up the hills and pulling the max load behind us.. we are doing our thing with our babies in tow at a speed where our wives dont ***** at us too much.. so buy what you like, in my case its a ford cause i know they are the greatest trucks on earth, we all know they look the best, ride the best, have the most power, and have the coolest owners... so good luck, stay loyal, and for god sakes dont buy a tundra......

I've got to go with dodge. Cummins motor, like the energizer bunny, keeps goin' and goin' !!! I've owned four of them, no problems. My current dodge, 03 1 ton will get around 19 mpg runnin' 80-85 down the highway empty and around 13 pulling heavy equipment. My bro-in law traded his duramax in on a 2006 dodge mega cab 1 ton and is getting 21 mpg runnin' the highway empty. He has horses and has a 35 ft full living quarters four horse trailer, loaded down and running 75-80 he's getting 13 mpg!!!! Then again, to each his own!!! Good luck on whatever you buy..

I chose the Chevy for the ride. It is a 3500 Dually with the Duramax. I drove all three and there was a big difference in the comfort of the Duramax. Go test drive all three and pick the most comfortable. They will all handle the boat just fine.

we have an 01 and an 04 ford, my uncle has an 05 Ford, my buddy has an 05 silverado and my brother in law just bought an 06 Dodge,,, I have driven all 5 of them and like certain things about some and dislike things about others. like was said, go out and test drive all 3 and see which one you like better, they will all handle the boat no problem...
