Got REALLY lucky today
Last week, the 6.0 in my older Excursion ('03) was acting funny. I dropped it at the dealer and they put a new EGR in it- said everything OK. Went to start it Friday AM and it would barely run. Looking at the odometer, it read 99998.4. I had 1.6 miles left on my factory warranty. I called a pal who took it back to the dealer on his rollback. Picked it up this evening- they replaced the fuel pump and all 8 injectors plus a bunch of little stuff. I figure this would have been about a half gazillion dollars if I had to pony up for the bill.
Once in a blue moon, I catch a break.
I'm a happy guy!

DAMN! You scored on that one. Do you realize how much those injectors cost??........They're about 320 each (after 160 core on the old ones) plus labor.

Yep, std procedure to do just about anything on the diesels is to separate the cab from the chassis. Crazy, even the simple things cost a fortune in labor.

OK- so my level of expectations has come down over the years. At least I don't BS myself on the "possibilities" anymore.
I'm guessing that in 30 years a bowel movement will suffice for REALLY lucky.
