I pull my mistress with a DODGE 3500 Dually. Good security with the dual wheels. Never any sway. I don't have the diesel but the V-10 has great power. Not so good on the gas mileage. LOL

Ive got a 2004 3500 quad cab and like it very much, ive got the cummins 325 and an automatic. I pull alot of boats for a local marina and have to go along with everyone else , if you can get a dually you would be better off. With the 48re transmission you dont even have to worry about it letting you down. I puul some very heavy cruisers and it does a fine job. With my 30 ft scarab and truck and trailer im 18,670. You wont be happy with fuel milage till that thing breaks in. I average 17 around town and 21hwy. Good luck with your vehicle. Brian

morepowerlessfuel.com looks pretty cool. In addition to the dodge 3500 I also have a 99 f250 that I put the chip on, added the exhaust and the air filter. I'm thinking I might have to get one of these workhorses for the dodge. The Ford certainly does blow a lot of black smoke!

I picked up the Boat on Monday and The dodge hauled it fine. On the way there (St. Louis to Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin) I got 20.4mpg@ 74mph and on the way back I got 12.2mpg at 69mph in tow/haul mode with the rpms @ 1800. I didn't experience any sway or anything as a result of not having the dually. On the highway I didn't even know it was behind unless the road was particularily rough. Thanks for everyones input.

I think you are fine with the SRW in the 3500. I would however keep the speed to a 65 mph max. Power is not the issue; stability and stopping is and the dually is better there. Drive very sensibily, it is VERY easy to get lulled into a false sense of security and suddenly get into trouble. Check your tires for load range E, they probably are already.

lotta good advice- for boats especially, you'll be fine cause the trailer axles are in the next zip code- much harder for the tail to wag the dog. GN's do offer advantages, but the next best thing is a boat/trailer combo due to aero and wb.

His truck has a 140" wb and is rated to tow 23k max, might be a little less with the auto or 3.73, neither of which contribute to drectional stability. I like the wider wheels too, keeps the tread under the wheel better. The 3500 has some helper springs which do a good job of offsetting lack of airbags.

I've got a similar 3500 with 75 k towing miles, towed with a 2500 beofre that.

I tow a lot with a dually now, but it's an FL70 toterhome
