looking to buy roll back any advice
SubscribeThe Pete has a Cat 350? HP with a 13 speed. Its geared a bit low for the highway but still run 65.
Joker what kind of equipment do you haul?
For a car hauler, a local guy just bought a 2002 maybe 03 F550 diesel 4wd single cab. With a alum bed, two winches and full remote control. It was a one owner driver truck. He paid $35, I think he did very well.
Jerr-Dan seems decent to work with on parts and questions. There bodyies are well made, tough. The steel bodies do rust.

Most rollbacks are operated by towing services. They get beat to $hit by people who don't give a fuc&. Plus they idle for thousands of hours. Figure 1.5X what the odo shows.
Second, it's tough to get 2 cars on a 21. Look for something a little longer.
Obviously you want something under-CDL.
Chris:
I would search everywhere , lot's of deals out there.
Super Boat Guy:
We own a New Holland Equipment dealership. We've got drop decks w/ dove tails too. Have you ever heard of flipping the gears in the transmission? Our Pete roll back is done this way , dang thing runs 100 mph. You have to shift backwards too. Crazy but we bought it this way.

I considered buying a rollback up until I looked into the insurance/liability end of it, now I looking into a chevy 3500 ramp truck with a winch(for personal use of course) lol, I own a garage and was looking at ways to attract more business and figured that on larger jobs people wouldn't mind paying a little more for the convience of having their vehicle picked up/delivered, with the ramp truck(19' Hodges body) and 1 ton chevy chassis it can be insured as a private use vehicle.Originally Posted by SLINGSHOT

for occasional use it might be better to get a 24' tag or GN trailer with tilt and winch- haul it with anything from a Big block beater shop truck to a nice dually of choice. cheap to insure a utility trailer and not that hard to get around in. could even use an enclosed trailer with a winch, ramp door makes it easy
