Default Power Window Motor 2001 Tahoe

Hi, One of my rear side door windows quit working on my Tahoe. I pulled the door panel to access motor, the motor screws into a cable style regulator. Are there any tricks to replacement, will I be able to simply swap motors or will the spool unload when I pull out the motor. Window is in the closed position. Thanks! Steve

hi, you need to take the window and regulater out as an assembly,a new reg and motor is 90-110.00 aftermarket depending were you get it, gm gets 190-300,aftermarket ones are just as good, they come as a set,,,there 2 bolts that hold the glass to the reg and 2 bolts one the front track and 2 bolts on the rear track, the motor is held in by 3 bolts,if you use a 1-2' piece of duct tape over the top of door frame and onto both sides of glass to hold it in the up position,,there is one electric plug on motor, it should take you about 1hour start to finish, if you need anymore info i can probuly copy a few pics from a factory shop manual or just pm me and i can talk you thru it ,its real easy if you can turn wrenchs

dmaxx3500, Thanks for the reply, it doesn't appear that the regulator is damaged, cables appear tight on the spool. I was wondering if I could secure both cables going into the spool ( gently clamping them both with needle nose vice-grips to keep tension ) and unscrew the motor and swap it out? They list motors and regulators separately at the parts house, can't I just swap out the motor? Steve

Yes I swapped it out last week, turned out to be just the motor, was an easy fix, $45 at Napa and the dog has his window back! Thanks for your help! Steve
