"Slightly Dangerous Racing"? I think so!
See John, I'm not completely useless! |
Wow... Look, it's so shiny!
Been a while since it looked like that... Thanks Sean! |

The engine is finally here! If all goes well the wiring should be completed and the engine and transmission should go in this coming week. Here are the numbers from the dyno sheet that came with the engine. This thing is a torque monster! We were shooting for 525hp, but this is close enough.
At 1800 rpm - 400 ft. lbs. of torque. At 3500 rpm - 498 ft. lbs. of torque and 332 hp. At 4500 rpm - 543 ft. lbs. of torque and 456 hp. At 5500 rpm - 480 ft. lbs. of torque and 507 hp. |

The engine bay is just about ready for the engine. Instead of using the factory tar paper (for a lack of better words) at the bottom of the wheel wells, we decided to fabricate an aluminum extension. There is also a piece added where the fender meets the firewall. This piece will conceal all of the wiring passing through the firewall so you will not see any of it. The only thing hanging off of the firewall will be the master cylinder.

And talk about wiring! Miles and miles of wires, but this task is almost finished now.

The wiring is finished as are all of the brake lines and most of the fuel lines. The suspension and drivetrain are now in place as well. All of the wiring is laid out where it goes, but none of the interior is in place yet. It is taking a little longer than I had hoped, but there is still some serious progress being made.

Here is a picture of the wheels on the car for a test fit to be sure that all of the measurements for them were right before the tires are mounted. Here is a shot of the stainless fuel tank as well. It is a little bigger than the factory tank, but when the car is on the ground you can't see much of it at all.

One last picture. We have been working on a place to mount the control box for the air ride suspension and we decided to install it in the factory ash tray. It will be mounted in here with a black aluminum cover going all the way around it to fill the gap between the control box itself and the edges of the ash tray to give it a nice flush and finished look. Now to change the ride characteristics or ride height, the controls will be easily accessible. But, when you don't want them they can be tucked out of site simply by closing the ash tray.
