Caterpillar 7.2...

I've got an F-650 with the 7.2 Cat... Anybody out there have any experience with increasing the mileage with chips, fuel mixture, boost controllers, or whatever?

Well just like with anything else it depends on what you want to do with the engine that matters most. If you increase horsepower the fuel mileage will fall off and vise versa! It all depends on what you want to do with it. Is it a C7 motor or a 3126?

I'm pretty sure it's a C7... It's a 2006 truck. It has the 300HP/800Ft-Lb tune on it... and that's plenty of power for the boat and for when I have to actually use it for work. My main focus would be to increase mileage, if possible.

Your motor should be a C7, if it is a 2006 it is ACERT technology. If you are still under warranty you need to check all of the guidlines before you do anything or it could void the warranty.

Good point...

The only way to increase power and stay within the catapillar deal is to pay them to raise it. You can only go up to 330hp and for the 30 it may not be worth the money. write down your engine serial number and call cat and they will tell you what you can do

I CURENTLY OWN A 2007 F-650 CUSTOM LONG HAULER . ORDERD IT WITH A 300 CAT, 3500 6-SPEED, 4/11 REAR. BEFORE I ORDERD THEY TOLD ME THAT IF I DID NOT ORDER WITH 4/11 REAR THAT I WOULD BE LIMITED TO THE SPEED LIMITER BECOUSE ANY OTHER WOULD BE GOVERNED AT 60-70MPH. RECENTLY HAD IT SERVICED AND REPROGRAMED AT FORD AND NOW I HAVE EVERY THING I NEED TO HAUL. THEY WERE ABLE TO RELEASE ALL THE LIMITERS EXEPT THE RPM AT 2400. NOW ITS GREAT. HOPE THAT HELPS.
